Another new city, another new park, and packless again. Brent tended to not have much luck with werewolf packs, he was too different. Brent's time with this last pack ended worse than with some of the other packs he had joined in the past. You see this pack actually tried to kill him. They hunted him for about two weeks, before he finally was able to lose them, and that required perilous swim up the Mississippi river. Needless to say that wasn't to fun.
You see Brent had a little disagreement with his last Alpha over his treatment of one of the female pack members. Pack mentality tends to be a little archaic when it comes to certain matters. This disagreement of course led to a fight with the Alpha. Which in turn led to Brent kicking the Alpha's a**, needless the rest of the pack didn't really like that, many didn't care for Brent as it was. Hence the running and being hunted. Oh well, I'm just glad I lost them Brent thought. I am also really glad there were no fatalities, I really didn't bare them any ill will, I was just hoping to get them to change some of their more sexist views.
Well now here I am in Jamerson Falls, New Jersey, sitting on a park bench alone. Brent may be critical of werewolf society, but he does enjoy the sense of community it brings. Brent does love running with the pack, it is an exhilarating feeling. I think I miss that most he thought. I guess this park bench I'm currently sitting on will have to be my friend for now. Wow I sound really depressing right now, was all Brent could think to himself.
Brent had heard rumors of a lot of supernatural activity in Jamerson Falls, that is one of the reasons he had decided to come here. He was hoping that the supernatural activity meant that there were werewolves in the area. Brent still held out hope to one day find a pack that was willing to accept him for who he was. If he couldn't find a pack, he could always start one, if he was able to find some individual werewolves you could accept him. "Why does everything have to be so complicated in our society?", Brent said aloud. He wasn't really asking anyone in particular, well maybe the bench.

Arrow pulled her hair up into a pony tail as she walked through the park. It was getting just a little bit hotter then she had expected, she took a deep breath of the fresh air and smiled. She loved being outside. she had spent to much time in the town and the fumes of the city had been getting a bit overwhelming for her sensitive nose. She's only been a werewolf for a year and hadn't yet gotten used to the enhanced sights and smells. She took another breath and paused, there was another scent in the air. One that she was now familiar with now that she had a pack. It was another were wolf, and it wasn't Levi or Vis either. The were grinned, excited about the new comer. Maybe he'd join the pack? it wasn't very big yet but Vis told her it would grow in time. She paused and scrunched her nose, trying to see if she could be able to pick up any more about the wolf. Now was the prefect time to try to work on her scenting skills. "Hmmm Male... in his thirties?" she wondered aloud to herself, Age was hard to detect for her. She hoped she'd be able to ask him about it later to see if she had it right.
Arrow ran her hands over her clothes, making sure they were presentable before sniffing the new wolf out. She grinned to herself, remembering her reaction to Vis and Levi. She'd been hostile and afraid of both of them. Now? Now she was giddy and excited, she wanted to make a good impression. she just hoped her wolf wouldn't try disrespect him like it had Levi.
She found the wolf quite quickly and arrived just in time to hear his question. "Because people are way to judgmental and attack anything at all that is different or not what they think is normal." She answered, stepping around the bench with a smile, and stuck her hand out. " Hello, My names Arrow. Welcome to Jamerson Falls."

Brent was a little startled, he had heard someone approaching, but didn't expect them or her in this case to talk to him. She also responded his question. Brent caught her scent as she got closer, she was a fellow werewolf, I was just thinking of another werewolf and here one is. Now I'm thinking of a billion dollars hand delivered by a scantily clad Ryan Reynolds... nothing oh well, it was worth a shot.
"Actually I was speaking of the intricacies of werewolf society, but I suppose your assessment applies to us as well." Brent wondered if this Arrow was in a pack or a lone wolf... like him. Brent stood up from the bench and offered her his hand, "Hello Arrow, its a pleasure to make your acquaintance on this fine day. I'm Brent." Brent could feel his wolf stirring a bit at the presence of another were, he hadn't had much luck with others as of late, so he couldn't blame him. "Thank you for welcoming me to Jamerson Falls, are you the official welcoming committee of your pack?" That would be just like a wolf pack, to relegate what they considered such a menial task to the women. Brent hoped that wasn't the case, it was entirely possible this is a chance meeting.
"So Arrow, what brings you to the park today?" Brent hoped she wasn't specifically looking for him, he had thought his arrival in Jamerson Falls to be pretty under the radar. Plus if she was looking for him specifically that would have to mean someone told him he was in this city, maybe his old pack had tracked him down. No, Brent thought, I lost them several states back, and I doubt they would hold this much of a grudge, considering he hadn't done any permanent damage to any of them. Brent doesn't recall any of them being that vengeful. Plus he had begun to suspect that the female pack member he had stood up for helped to cover his escape. "Just out for a stroll?"
Brent was of course getting ahead of himself. After all he hasn't even given her time to respond as to why she was here. Brent, he thought to himself, this is a new city and another new beginning, let the woman speak before you start jumping to conclusions. Man you can be so judgmental sometimes, he thought to himself, lighten up a little.

Arrow opened her mouth to answer his first question when he fired another one of, then another. She held a hand up and laughed, "Easy there," she told him with a light hearted smile. "I guess you could say i'm the welcoming committee, our pack is young so I guess Vis, Our alpha, wants everyone to be apart of welcoming new wolves. So far we only have three in our pack." she said, a bit sheepish about their number "But like I said, we only started about a week ago. and also, In regards to why I was here," she took a deep breath of the fresh air and let a smile touch her lips "I was turned were a year ago by accident." she told him trying not to sound any less cheery at the mention of the attack. "And I only just learned how to control Winter, my wolf. So I'm really sensitive to all of the enhanced smells of the city. Being free of that helps me concentrate and makes Winter happy as well. Vis is still trying to show me the ropes and teach me about being pack, so i'm not the best person to ask about it" She reached up and tightened her ponytail before glancing back at Brent. "But look at me, talking up a storm," she knew she was talking a bit too much, but she really was excited to be meeting a new were. "what about you? what brings you to Jamerson falls?"

So Arrow is part of a newly formed pack, started by an Alpha named Vis, all good information to know. The pack is a week old and only has three members, good Brent thought, maybe this means they are younger and less ingrained in current pack mentalities.
Then Arrow mentioned how she was turned a year ago by accident. Thats just another way of saying she was turned against her will, no wonder she wasn't used to her enhanced senses, no one taught her how to properly control them. Brent despised weres who changed others against their will, to Brent there was no greater crime.
Brent also took note that Arrow was the type to name her wolf, it was a very common thing to do, especially to those who have been turned. Brent was taught by his family/pack that the wolf is a part of you and you a part of it, to name it was a way of further separating yourself from it. To Brent the wolf was just another part of himself, so its name was Brent as well, they were one and the same.
Brent just assumed that naming your wolf was just a convenient way of coping with the new instincts that have suddenly appeared. Brent's first change didn't take place until later in his life, but his wolf instincts were always with him. Brent assumed this was common to all born wolves although he had never discussed it with another werewolf before.
"Your talking is fine, I'd hardly consider that a storm." Brent chuckled a little bit, "Trust me, I've heard a a storm or two in my day." Brent thought best how to answer her next question, "As to what brings me to Jamerson Falls... thats a really, really long story. Lets just say I'm looking for a new place to roost."

Arrow's eyes flashed when he said he was looking for a place to settle. "Well, Vision pack is looking for new members." she told him with a kind smile. " that is if you'd be willing to join us. did you want to talk to our alpha Vis?" The young were wasn't sure that the protocol was for such a thing. Should she have even approached the wolf or was that Vis' job? She began to feel a little uncertain. She started twisting her long hair around her finger as she thought. She was sure this was okay, Vis hadn't warned her against doing it.
"I'll give him a call if you'd like?" Arrow questioned, bringing a phone out from her back pocket and holding her finger over the number 2, speed dial for Vis, 3 was Levi. She wondered what this new was like, he seemed friendly enough but she couldn't yet tell if he was submissive or dominant. Arrow sat down on the bench Brent had been in moments ago and looking back at him "Of course I might be getting ahead of myself, you don't have to join our pack just yet. Though I think Vis would want to see any stray wolves in his territory anyway." she said with a shrug.

Brent and his wolf perked up at the mention of Vis' pack looking for new members. This seemed to good to be true, hopefully he would be accepted rather easily, Brent thought. "Yes I would like to speak with your Alpha." Hopefully this goes well, although this part usually does, he has joined many other packs before.
Hopefully this Vis isn't hot Brent thought, my attraction to other male werewolves tends to be read as a challenge. There is nothing like making a first impression with a challenge. Of course once they misread his attraction as a challenge, Brent sometimes does not respond very well, you see Brent is a very dominate wolf. Brent was raised by an Alpha to be an Alpha, but he is pretty good at keeping these dominate urges in check. Brent has learned to follow despite his instincts, he isn't sure if he is ready to lead yet, one day for sure, but not now.
Brent sits back down on the bench, next to Arrow and says, "Yes, please give him a call." Brent listened to what Arrow said next, and took a little objection to being called a stray, "Hey, not to sound bi***y or anything but could you not refer to me as a stray please." Hopefully Arrow wouldn't take offense to this or anything, "I just don't really like being referred to as a dog you know. And don't worry you haven't offended me or anything its just kind of a pet peeve of mine." Hopefully his 'pet peeves' wouldn't turn anyone off right away, Brent just really hoped to be able to settle into a pack for once.
Brent listened to both sides of the conversation when Arrow made her call, its not that Brent was nosy, he just wanted to gauge how eager this Vis was to meet knew werewolves. Also to gauge how eager he was to accept new pack members. Brent also wondered about how Vis would feel about him being gay. Its never really gone over very well when he has informed other Alphas, some even rejected him on the spot because of it. Then again trying to hide it has never really gone over well either, werewolves are usually pretty good at picking up on one another's arousal.
Brent has never actually been with a woman before, he has considered it of course, there was a lot of pressure for him to find a mate growing up. Brent just isn't sure if he could live a lie though, but to be honest he had often wondered if he would like it if he tried it. Sexuality like many facets of life could be complicated, right, especially when you are a werewolf. Brent looked over at the woman sitting next to him, she had just gotten off the phone, she is pretty he thought, even I can tell that.
"So I take it he is on his way?", Brent asked Arrow. Arrow replied with an affirmative answer. "Would you mind if I asked you a personal question before your Alpha gets here Arrow?" Brent decided to just ask her and get it over with, without waiting for her to respond, "Are you mated to anyone?" Brent wasn't sure why he was asking her the question, maybe just to see how she would respond.

Arrow nodded in response to him not wanting to be called a stray. "Oh, yeah i guess that does sound kind of demeaning," she mused aloud, then gave him a small smile "Don't worry about it, I'll remember that, though hopefully I won't have to keep reminding myself if you join the pack." Arrow told him with another smile before pressing Vis' speedial.
After she was done speaking with him she hung up and put her phone back into her pocket she turned to see Brent watching her and smiled. Vis had sounded pleased at the idea of her finding a potential pack mate. "Vis will be here in just a bit, but I'm sure you heard all of that anyway." she laughed gently. She was so glad the pack was getting bigger, and so was her wolf. Winter knew that more pack members meant more protection and stability. Maybe thats why she's not reaction to Brent the way she did to Vis and Levi.
Arrow was taken by surprise by his question, it was a bit out of the blue. Oh, well no. Not yet." she answered a bit hesitantly. She was more than a little interested in Vis, and so was Winter, but she didn't know if Winters attraction to Vis was purely because he was the Alpha. Though she was glad her wolf and her seemed to be on the same page she still wasn't used to Winter and her motives, her own attraction to Vis had nothing to do with his being Alpha. She also wasn't clear on their bond, was Winter her, but with animal instincts or were they two different beings? Some days she didn't know what she thought. Arrow tilted her head to the side a bit her thoughts turning back to his question. "why do you ask?" she questioned, curious.

Brent could detect the hesitance in Arrow's voice as she answered his question on being mated yet. It was a personal question he knew, but it did help gauge how open of a person Arrow was. "I was just curious, you see... ...", Brent himself was a little hesitant to tell a potential pack member so soon that he was gay. Brent had better say something though, his pause was getting to be pretty long, "... ... I'm actually... gay."
Wow, that sounded really awkward, then again this wasn't a conversation that was usually had among werewolves. Brent was after all the only gay werewolf he had ever heard of, and Brent has met a lot of werewolves from a variety of places. Hopefully things will be different with the werewolves of Jamerson Falls.
Brent watched Arrow's reaction to the news he just gave her. Most don't react very well, he thought. He wanted to see Arrow's reaction, maybe it would be an indication of Vis'. Brent looked at Arrow again, "How do you think the rest of your pack will respond to that bit of news?" Again Brent hoped to hear good news, but the pack was new, Arrow probably didn't know them that well.
"Feel free to ask me any questions, I've kind of been berating you with them, I'm pretty much an open book." Brent hoped Arrow was still comfortable around him enough to ask him questions. Female werewolves always seemed to take that bit of news better than male werewolves, at least outwardly Brent added to his own thoughts. Well at least he got it out there, the rest is up to those he has told now. Those being just Arrow of course but he is going to tell the others that he meets. Yes Brent thought to himself, I'm going with the open approach this time.

Arrow was starting to worry about what he was going to ask when he paused for so long, but before her imagination could run away with it he spoke. "Oh, well thats no problem!" She said quickly, only after the words had left her mouth did she really think about what she had just said. When she spoke she was speaking for the pack, she didn't know all that much about protocol. She glanced at Brent, unsure what to tell him. 'what? is vis going to say no because Brent is gay? thats ridiculous! He can't change who he is.' she thought to herself, "I don't know if I speak for the pack but I don't know why it would be a problem... well, I know why it would be a problem" she said with a slight smile "I'm just saying its a part of who you are so the alpha or any of the pack members shouldn't begrudge you for that." She explained with a shrug.
Arrow scented the air and smiled, looking back at Brent "Vis is close, and don't worry, I'll back you up as much as I can if there are any problems. Your alright, for a Were" she teased, bumping her elbow against him briefly with another reassuring grin.

Being close was an understatement. Through the pack bonds, Visceral had gotten a general direction and had been headed Arrow's way for a while before he had gotten the call. He had felt her wariness and then excitement of the past half hour or so, so he had decided to check up on her. He had been barely 200 meters from them when he hung up. He knew exactly where he was going for a while though as their scents were wafting to him on the breeze.
Slightly adjusting his course. He was striding up, sporting blind-man's glasses, and a white cane, which he had been rhythmically tapping and swinging from side to side as he strode toward them. He really didn't need the accouterments for his birth defect, not since Vision had graced his life. He saw through his nose and ears, and most of the time got a better picture of his surroundings than those who have an eagle's vision. The only reason he had the glasses and cane was that most of the time, people stayed out of his way, and if not he could whack them about the shins. It was a great way to get through a crowd.
Visceral Inhaled deeply as he approached, cataloging and storing the swirling midnight and gold color of this newest recruit's scent for later use. WHile he was inhaling of course he searched for a whiff of nearby humans, making sure they were not in hearing distance. His hearing, much greater than even the sharpest human's ears still did not compare to the range he enjoyed of his nose. If he couldn't smell anyone, then for sure they were not within hearing distance. Even if he did smell someone, most of the time they were not in hearing distance either.
There were none of course, though there was someone, sweat drenched jogging on what had to be a path that meandered in their direction and would probably take her within the distance to hear a shout. He wasn't planning on shouting of course, And hoped the male, Brent, would not be shouting in public either. When he was within range to the bench, he tapped the back of it with the tip of his cane three times in a quick tattoo. Wondering how the male would take his condition, surely as much as he wondered how the pack would take his sexuality, He cleared his throat in a deep rumble, then spoke softly " So, You have found someone who wishes to run with us, did you Arrow?"

Arrow grinned when she felt Vis near. "well, that was a bit quicker then I thought." she said with a short laugh. The pack bonds helped her to locate him quicker then she normally would have had she not been pack, though she didn't turn around until she heard the three quick taps on the bench. She had heard his cane and knew he'd also have his glasses and her smile widened, she wondered what Brent would think of their blind Alpha, Vis was playing it up a bit though. She knew he didn't need the Cane or the Glasses, but Brent didn't. She was curious as to how he would take it.
Arrow reached out and touched his shoulder lightly, as if bringing his attention to her. "Yes, Vis, This is Brent. Brent, this is my Alpha." she introduced both of them, looking between the both of them but not getting in their way, she knew meeting the Alpha of another pack was big, and she and a since that Brent was a very dominant wolf. She wondered if Vis had heard Brent tell her he was gay and when Brent would feel he should tell Vis.

Brent looked at the man named Vis, that must be short for something, wearing his dark sunglasses and using a white cane utilized by the blind. Was this a joke, is all Brent could think. Brent wasn't sure what game this Alpha was playing at but it did serve to distract Brent from the fact he would normally find Vis attractive. This distraction was a good thing as Brent's attraction to other male werewolves is usually misinterpreted as as a challenge. Which by the way is a terrible way to meet your next potential Alpha. Brent new this from experience.
Brent offered Vis his hand, "Its a pleasure to meet you Vis. Would you mind if I asked what is with the accouterments for the blind?" Brent was trying to determine if this was just a disguise the Alpha used to seem non-threatening and therefore underestimated in public. Perhaps he is trying to travel incognito, pretending to be blind could be a good way to be over looked Brent supposed. Brent doubted this was done for his benefit, the Alpha got here to fast to have had time to set up this ploy. Now Brent really was curious as to why the Alpha was pretending to be blind. Maybe its some sort of inside joke among the pack that Brent obviously would not be aware of. A strange lot this pack must be.
Well your kind of a strange werewolf Brent, so you'd fit right in, Brent thought. Brent had also decided he was going to be open about his sexuality to Vis right off the bat. Better to go ahead and get his reaction now, after all Arrow seemed fine with it. Then again Arrow wasn't male, females always seemed to handle it a lot better than males. Well at least the females Brent told that weren't trying to mate with him. Brent noticed women didn't always take the whole 'I won't sleep with you because I'm gay' conversation very well, especially when they were in the middle of trying to get into your pants. Wow, I've had some awkward times Brent thought to himself.

unerringly, Vis took the man's offered hand. His grip was firm, but not crushing. He found he didn't seem to need to prove himself to this guy. " Yes, it is a pleasure, and no, I won't get mad that you asked. It's something I would have had to be upfront with you about anyway." He released his hand and slid his glasses from his eyes, which were a striking blue color, but focused just above and to the left of Brent's shoulder. He used the frame of the glasses to tap just beside his left eye and spoke again.
" It's because I'm blind. I was born this way. Though I've come out for the stronger in the end, if you'd believe that." His voice at the end was dripping with a bit of resentment, not of Brent but of the harshness of his long ago childhood. They were also laced with the absolute truth of his belief, not only in his blindness but in that he has come out for the stronger.
Cocking his head to the side, he inhaled Brent's scent deeply trying to get a hind of his reaction. He hoped for the best, that he wouldn't just get laughted at and he'd have to fight this one for dominance jsut because outwardly he seemed like he was disabled. In truth, he thought he has a much better picture of the world around him than anyone else he had ever met. Being able to scent even traces of things up to a mile away was quite the feat, and he had a full 360 degree view of his world instead of the less than 180 degree that sight would afford someone.
