[atrb=style,background-color: transparent,bTable] hey guys. my name is thomas frederick jackson, but you can call me Tom. everyone else does, so i guess you can too. i'm twenty years young, and if it isn't already obvious, i'm a man. it should be. what isn't so obvious is the fact that i'm a hunter, but you can keep that a secret for now. |
personality
Thomas is a really nice guy, if a little dorky and naive. He'd give you the shirt of his back, even though he would feel naked without it, and he rarely, if ever, loses his temper. If there is a big argument, Thomas will either try to moderate it, or he'll hang back on the sidelines, looking awkward, until things reach a point where he can't stand by any longer and he'll snap at both sides of the argument, shaming them into a truce. That said, Thomas is also something of a recluse. He keeps to himself, staying in the six bedroom house he inherited off his father. His sleep schedule is somewhat abnormal by most standards, with Thomas sleeping from eight in the morning until two in the afternoon, and then spends until eight filling out paperwork for his company. After that, most people just assume that he works on private projects or plays computer games, since that fits in with what the public knows of him. Which, given that his net worth is eleven billion dollars, isn't all that much.
What the public doesn't know, or even suspect is that the sweet, shy Thomas is actually a vampire hunter, and a fairly good one at that. Ever since his father's death and his introduction to the Hunters, Thomas has trained hard to become a hunter, turning his slightly flabby body into a proper fighting machine. His hatred of vampires has grown from the small seed that was his father's death into a mustard tree of hate from the continued killing of humans by vampires. He is determined to wipe them, and any other non-human species that thinks it can get away with mass murder, from the face of the Earth.
Thomas has mixed feelings in regards to vampires coming out. On one hand, it means that humans are more aware of them and can take precautions against them. On the other hand, it makes his desired goal a lot harder to achieve, since the vampires can complain to civil authorities and people are going to notice if enough vampires vanish. In the end, he thinks that it's better for people to be aware of vampires than not know that they exist.
history
Thomas was born into a very old family of Hunters. Since the late 17th century they defended mankind against the vampire threat, always undercover, always making sure that the vampires couldn't trace them back home. Using a combination of magic and technology they hunted vampires for centuries, keeping their real business secret from their offspring until they reached the age of majority. Much of the technology developed by Thomas' family in their fight against vampires, from firearms to early analogue computers, eventually entered the market as a way to fund their crusade. As technology boomed in the 20th century, the family became immensely wealthy, with each member worth millions, if not billions. You can almost guarantee that every major military product developed in the 20th century, as well as many of the civilian products, were funded by Thomas' family and sold by a puppet corporation.
Born in 1991, Thomas never knew his family's true business. Instead, he thought that his family owned one of America's biggest defence contractors and, from an early age, expected to take control of one of the R&D departments. He wasn't being arrogant, expecting his father to pull strings for him, because Thomas really was that good. By the age of sixteen he had completed a degree in mechanical engineering, with a minor in computer programing, and was well on his way to becoming a valuable member of the company. However, he had become withdrawn during that time, what with all the studying he had done, so his father told him to go out and make some friends before he started work at the company.
Thomas tried to moderate his withdrawn nature over the next two years but, with his father's death in 2009, he only became more withdrawn, staying in an empty house. With his closest relatives all dead, Thomas' mother had died in a skiing accident when he was three, Thomas withdrew into the family home, receiving only occasional visits from his relatives after the initial period of mourning had passed. Still, he handled his father's estate and the company with the same level of dedication and skill as his father, so people only pitied him, rather than wanting to take the company away from him.
What most people didn't know was that, after the death of Thomas' father, his family had gathered around Thomas and told him what his father had really been doing and how he had really died. With that knowledge in mind, Thomas allowed himself to be trained in the ways of the vampire hunter and, for almost two years, prepared his body and mind for the dangers that lay ahead. And, despite all of that training, he still managed to keep the company running smoothly.
When Thomas finally did start hunting, he found it to be highly stressful and, at first sickening, but he still enjoyed the hunt and, although the way vampires die still disturbs him enough that their deaths make it their way into his dreams, he has no regrets about killing them. They are, to him, a race of genocidal monsters who need to be destroyed.[/div]
