Vampires, werewolves and crazy people like himself who could shine light from his hands and hear people’s thoughts, no those weren’t scary. Having no idea what he was and why vampires and every other supernatural creature was after him was cake. Maggie chasing him like a bullet and he still didn’t worry too much. But this god damn term paper would be the death of him. Campus life was not all it was cracked up to be. He pushed away from the desk as one of the wheels on the chair squeaked as he moved back. He put his feet down to stop himself and looked around, the library was pretty empty, it was getting late. He looked down at his watch, “Eleven…” He read aloud. He looked around at the library again and could have sworn he saw someone, a familiar blond someone. He stood up instantly, as the lights in the same aisle of books started to blink, and made that creepy staticky noise from the electricity. “Hello?” He asked as he took a step forward. He swallowed and paused trying to calm himself down, surely he wouldn’t be killed in a library, that was just cliché and tacky.
He kept walking and got the edge of the aisle, “Is someone there?” he asked. He waited….no response. He took another step, only inches away from the aisle now, “I said is someone there?” his voice breaking. He cleared his throat, waiting intensely for a response that wasn’t vampire fangs attaching to his throat. He swallowed and jumped around the corner but saw no one. You could never be too careful so slowly, he walked up the aisle, now he could clearly hear shushing and two sets of giggles. It was creepy but he was sure there were two of them. Still, he kept walking towards the noise at the end of the aisle. When he reached the end, there was a blond girl with a brown haired guy, making out. “This isn’t a free show…” the girl spat and the boy grabbed her hand, leading her away. Buffy took a breath, he didn’t realize he was holding it until he began to get dizzy.
He leaned on the shelf and sighed, his hands on his face. He needed some air. He walked out of the aisle and looked at his desk that had his lap top on it then turned towards the exit. What was he thinking? Maggie didn’t know anything about him or that he went here. He would have to try to stay calm. Between these classes, work and his unknown pedigree, he had enough on his mind. He pushed the double doors open and stepped outside into the cool night air. It was dark, needless to say. A fountain outside illuminated the night, making it looks surreal. He had been losing sleep, scared that some vampire would come after him while he slept. Even though he knew they couldn’t get in without an invite, he was still paranoid. He walked out towards the large fountain that was in the center of campus and took a seat on it, looking into the water. A couple walked by him, holding hands and looking all affectionate. He smiled as they walked by nodding to him. Besides every other stressor he had, he was dying for some one he could call his own.
He went through guys pretty quickly, and people talked but he had yet to even have sex. He just dated a lot. Oh sure, he had vampires who wanted to kill him, humans who thought he was a crazy fake psychic and psychics that he wasn’t like at all. He was just Buffy, that was all he had to offer, damaged goods, he thought. His eyes started to get wet and he looked around to make sure no one was near before he let them fall. He wasn’t one to cry much but he wasn’t superman after all. Hell, he didn’t know what he was. Today was just a bad day.
