*Ever has only been in town for two days and can already tell that she's going to hate her new foster home. It wasn't really anything that the couple did really. It was more what they didn't do...like look at her or talk to her unless they were telling her what to do. Some would say that Everleigh just wasn't giving the couple enough of a chance but Ever's been here and done this a lot. She should know how this works.*
*Granted, they didn't try to hurt her like the Sullivans had and at least this couple fed her regularly unlike the Townsends. But somehow being ignored hurt more...in a different way.*
*She sighed heavily as she wandered around town. She didn't have a destination. She just wanted to walk. It was almost completely dark out now but she didn't care. She had a lot on her mind and it wasn't like anyone would miss her. It was one of those rare times that Everleigh was actually sad. She couldn't help it. For some reason walking in the near darkness like this made it worse but she had nothing else to do.*
*By the time it was nearly pitch black outside she had wandered closer to the outskirts of town and was surprised to find a park. She blinked at it then slowly started to smile as she wandered in. This park had to have been huge! Everleigh stopped at the entrance and looked around, not seeing anyone nearby. She smiled to herself as she skipped further in. She followed one of the trails and soon came to a swing set. She giggled to herself, looking around in the darkness again before running over to sit on one of the swings, swinging happily back and forth, no longer thinking of how messed up her life was*

Why was Emile out so late?
Well, there where so many reasons he could have came up with but it boiled down to the fact he was kinda bored. As much as he was worried for the pack he promised them he'd be back in time for dinner so they needn't be worried and if he REALLY needed them he could contact them through the pack bonds.
The boy for once actually looked like a boy; a simple white polo shirt and jeans. He hadn't been to the park in literally forever and decided to get over there and swing his little heart out. He leapt the park gate with ease and landed in a crouch, giggling softly to himself his enhanced nose caught scent of a human; a young female. He had reason to be worried; night was when Vampires came out and they'd take her just as easily as anything else. Slowly and cautiously he approached from her left through the trees and took a seat on the swing beside hers for several silent seconds, letting himself be assured there was no danger to either of them before he smiled.
"Hey! You must be new around here. I'm Emile Avaant but call me Em or Emi."
He smiled at her, brushing some of his hair back. If she found out he was a Wolf things could turn very badly very quickly so he kept quiet on it - not that he planned to blurt it out but there was always a chance.
"Why are you out so late? It gets kinda dangerous with Vampires and stuff..."
The tone was genuine. It DID get dangerous, especially for humans. Even in human form Emi could handle himself; but against Vampires it got much more tricky. The average human wouldn't stand a hope in hell. Sure it was odd for someone to be concerned for a girl who he'd only literally just met but Emi was a very open heart.

*The friendliness and outgoing nature of the boy that was suddenly on the swing next to hers made her grin* Hey Emi, I'm Everleigh. *It always made it easier when someone was a friendly as Ever was. Everleigh found, though that it was rare. A lot of people always thought that Ever was a bit too friendly, willing to give up too much too soon, especially with the existence of vampires being common knowledge now. Everleigh didn't care though. She was convinced that not all vampires were bad just like not all people were either.*
I was just out wandering. I couldn't sleep. *Everleigh was friendly but there was something about being a foster kid that made her self conscious. She didn't like people to know that about her right away. She frowned at his comment curiously.* I didn't see anybody here but us and I've been here a while. Aren't you worried about it being dangerous for you, too? *It was very nice that Emi was so worried for her but his mention of danger made her think of him as well. If she was in danger then so was he.*

Emile smiled at her name. It was a very pretty name and not one he'd honestly heard before. Of course he knew his name wasn't exactly the top choice of new parents either but hers was just so... fitting for her. She seemed kind (her scents confirmed that for now) and really open - all good things in his books.
"You have a really pretty name."
He smiled at her, blushing a little - thankyou darkness for hiding it though. It took him several seconds to get his mind back to the present before he replied;
"Me neither. I have a late bedtime."
He smiled at her as he kicked off, swinging back and forth, higher and higher. At her next comment - justified obviously was also the hardest one he could answer. It was against pack law to tell an outside human, but what could he say? He was a Ninja? That'd just sound insulting, however kinda true it was with Levi's training. Although...
"My Uncle taught me self defense and stuff, and how to shoot a gun for if I ever need it. He's really cool!"
He smiled at her - not really a lie by an stretch, but not what he would have liked to have told her. Obviously being a Wolf meant his nose could pick up on subtle things - such as the fact she was hiding her emotions.
"Is something wrong, Everleigh?"
Emile frowned as he slowed the swing to a stop and looked at her - his eyes where far better than most at seeing in the dark even when he wasn't a Wolf. He wasn't being forward, he just hated seeing anyone upset, least of all the first person he'd met of his age. His Wolf was more interested in making her a part of the pack; she'd be a good addition from what was shown by far. But neither was it his choice nor could it be asked lightly - in the future maybe.

*Everleigh grinned at the compliment and it was her turn to blush.* Thank you. It was my mom's mom's name.
*She watched Emi swing idly for a few moments before she started to swing as well. The momentary silence between them wasn't uncomfortable and hearing Emi talk about the training that his uncle had given him was comforting. She slowed her swing a bit and turned to him with an awed grin* He did? Woah...he does sound cool! *Everleigh had never known someone so young that knew stuff like that. She thought it was pretty neat.* I've never known anyone who knew that kind of stuff. Being that we're all alone out in the dark, though, I'm glad I met you. *She laughed, though, in truth, she was glad she met him anyway. She'd barely been in town for forty-eight hours and already met someone she wanted to be friends with. Not bad in her book.*
*His next question, though, had her bring her swing to a complete stop. She frowned at him curiously for a moment, wondering how he picked up on her emotions. It wasn't like she felt all that sad anymore but Emi was right. There was something wrong. She just had no idea how he picked up on it. This kid was perceptive. She smiled at him sadly before she looked away and out into the darkness for a moment, biting her lip. Everleigh sighed. She guessed she would have to share her secret with him now. Somehow she knew she could trust him with it anyway. She looked back at him, not smiling this time.* I just moved here....and honestly...I just don't like my foster home that much. *She realized how she had made that sound and was quick to clarify* They didn't hurt me or anything...they just don't notice me that much. *She smiled slightly with a shrug, pushing her feet idly against the ground a bit* Most kids would love that, huh? To not have their parents notice when they come and go but, I don't know. It's more than just that. They, like, barely look at me too. *She shook her head sadly.* Anyway, it's not like they're my family. It's temporary. It always is.

He nodded with a grin. Levi WAS cool - although not really a Ninja. Well no he still kinda was one, he just didn't like to admit it. Same difference really, right?
"He is. You'll have to meet him sometime!"
Emile smiled softly, before he listened to her next comment. It made him blush and smile before he nodded slightly. It really was nice to meet someone like Ever - his own age roughly, and the same level of fun loving as himself. Levi was close but nobody could beat someone who knew how he thought as he thought it.
"I'm glad to have met you too Ever!"
Her next sentence - before she clarified - almost made him growl. He had to force his Wolf to back off until she explained, but even then he wanted to find them and kill them. Ignoring her? How could they? She didn't ask for much but what she did want they didn't give her?! He took a deep breath, biting his lip. The Pack weren't like that - you couldn't get away from them. Maybe, just maybe...
"They sound awful."
He scowled darkly, supressing another growl in his throat before he brightened up.
"You could come and live with me! My family is very attentive but I'd have to ask my dad... still, I don't think he'd mind too much. If you want I can take you back up to say hello and you can spend the night? I'm sure he'll let you but whatever happens I won't let you go back there, okay?"
His Wolf died down a little at that premise. If they had came for her now, Emile couldn't trust himself not to attack them out of anger. He'd been in that situation before and he didn't want to see others go through it.

I'd love to meet him sometime. *Everleigh smiled. It was always kind of surreal for Ever to meet someone else's family when she didn't have one herself. She liked being around a family environment but it also made her kinda sad. Ever had come to believe she would never really have the same thing for herself. It bothered her all the more to have to leave.
*Em's reaction to hearing about her foster family surprised her. She definitely didn't expect him to get so upset. It didn't scare her but she was surprised just the same. She bit her lip a bit* I've had worse but being ignored isn't fun. *She let it drop after that. She didn't want to upset Em again. Everleigh's history wasn't nice and there would be time for all that later anyway.*
*At Em's offer she looked over at him, completely surprised and taken off guard but she grinned a bit.* Are you sure it's ok? I mean, I really don't want to get you into trouble or anything. *She bit her lip lightly again but was still grinning. She was so grateful she had found this park and Em tonight.* Where do you live?

"Of course I'm sure!"
He grinned at her. He wasn't utterly sure with Vis but he was sure his Alpha wouldn't mind her staying for one night at the least, would he? He doubted it. Regardless, it'd have been easier to shift and run home but he couldn't now so he smiled and pointed off towards the treeline behind some houses.
"In the forest. We have a really nice home, and it won't take us long to walk there. Don't worry, I'm the worst thing In there."
He stuck his tongue out playfully and giggled, jumping off the swing he landed and straightened, offering his hand to her he smiled a little, blushing. This certainly was a first but if all went to plan he'd finally have a friend his own age he could play with without being too big of a bother. If and when she found out what he was, that'd be even better. His comment, surprisingly, was true. Vampires stayed out of the woods and by instinct most other predators avoided Weres not thanks to Vis's efforts. Still, he knew a shortcut so he'd take that route, just in case.
"You'll met my Dad, Mum, Uncle and Older Brother."
Emile smiled softly as he looked at her. Well, the first three for sure but he didn't quite know if Brent would be in tonight. Regardless his room could form either two single beds or a double depending on what she wanted - it got kinda cold for humans at night whereas Weres had little problem standing the weather up there.

*She blushed at his enthusiasm and slowed her swing before stepping off and taking Em's hand. He must have been running around a bit before they met tonight because he felt hot to the touch.* I'm not worried. You have ninja skills, remember? *She giggled playfully. Ever had meant it earlier. She really did feel safe around Emi.*
*It sounded like Em had a big family and a big house. She was excited to see it and meet everyone. Ever wondered if they were all as cool as Em was.* So what is your family like? Sounds like you have a large one. *She walked with him through the trees, enjoying the night and just talking with her new friend. She hasn't had someone her own age to talk to like this in forever.* I only had my dad until he died. My mom died the night I was born. *This was the first time that Ever had really talked about her parents to anyone since she was orphaned and it felt good to share. After a few minutes of walking she glanced over at Em* So are we almost there now

Levi didn't mind chasing after Emile, he really didn't, but that boy could be a real nuisance sometimes. He'd promised to be back for dinner, but it was well past that now and the sun was pretty much set. Being the pack second and Emile's "uncle", Levi had volunteered to track the boy down and bring him back before it got completely dark. There were already a few vampires out and about, and Levi knew that neither race played well together. The vampires claimed that werewolves stank and acted like animals, but Levi figured that they were just trying to explain away their natural urge to destroy a competing predator without admitting to having animal instincts. The arrogant bastards always wanted to be better than anyone else.
Following Emile's scent, Levi came to a park and grinned wryly. That was Emile's scent alright, going to a park right on dark. Chuckling, Levi walked into the park, eyes scanning the bushes and ears open. It wasn't entirely impossible that Emile had seem him coming and was waiting in ambush. He did that a lot, and Levi usually played along even if he'd spotted Emile. this time, though, he'd catch Emile before he had a chance to tackle Levi. He wasn't getting that kind of favour after missing tea.
Voices floated through the air and Levi made out Emile's voice and the voice of a young girl. He got closer and, although the wind wasn't blowing his way, he could hear that they were using swings. Well, Emile would have smelled him by now, so there was no point dawdling. Levi stuck his hands in his pockets, started whistling "A Pub with No Beer" as he approached. It was just one of those songs that stuck with you and it was one of the things that helped him to keep his Australian accent. Besides, it put people at ease, and Levi didn't want the girl who Emile was with to be nervous around him. He might be 6'4" and built like a brick outhouse, but he liked children and hated seeing them frightened or nervous.
The swings came into view and Levi waved at Emile. He came closer, and then called out to the boy.
"You missed tea."
His tone was casual, but there was just a hint of mock admonishment in it.

Emile let his head snap round as the scent hit his nose; he had to be careful not to know Levi was there from just that though. He grinned and turned around as Levi came into view and mock scolded him - though Emile could tell there was curiosity in that tone.
"Sorry Levi."
Emile smiled up at the man and turned to Ever; he knew she'd be feeling a bit iffy about him and Emile didn't want that. Of course now he had to explain why he'd missed tea and it just got more downhill there. Instead, he decided to explain the best he could - and in a way he hoped Levi would side with him instead of sending the girl home.
"This is Everleigh, I met her on the swings. Um, her step parents are kinda mean so I said she could maybe stay at our house for a little bit? I dunno if dad will approve but..."
Emile looked up at Levi apologetically before he turned back to Ever and smiled. She was still probably a tiny bit left out so he smiled and prodded Levi in the stomach.
"This is Uncle Levi, he's the Ninja I was telling you about."
He giggled softly and shifted his shirt so it was more comfortable, before his head snapped up and his eyes locked on something across the park. He glanced quickly up to Levi and smiled a little, but the smile held something. There was a Vampire flitting from tree to tree, probably smelling Everleigh. Emile forced down every single urge he had to growl before he smiled and turned to Ever, hoping she'd want to move - if they didn't, they'd have to protect her and she'd get suspicious.
"I think we should go."
Emile said quietly and simply, gently taking Everleigh's hand and walking briskly (but not too serious so as to scare her badly) towards the forest, smiling at her so as to ease her nerves. If it got too close he'd have to impose himself between her and let whatever happened happen.

*Everleigh heard the whistling before Levi actually came into view and smiled to herself before seeing him. She looked all the way up at him and blinked before blushing and offering an apologetic smile. She didn't mean to stare. But when Emi introduced Levi she smiled* Oh, hi! *She giggled at the fact that Emi called Levi a ninja to his face. Everleigh decided that made Levi cool if Emi could joke with him like that.*
*She felt very awkward, standing there as Em explained her situation. As he told Levi they were her step parents, though, she blushed lightly and looked back up at Levi* They're my foster parents...but yeah... *She wasn't quite sure what to say and she knew there would be a lot of questions for her later so she just let it go at that for the moment.*
*Since she was so close to Em she could sense his tension and turned to look at him in concern. He looked like he was looking for something and he seemed very focused. She frowned curiously and when he turned to suggest that they leave she noted just a hint of desperation in the suggestion. She nodded.* Yeah, ok. We should. *Everleigh tried not to notice how eager Em seemed to get out of the area but she couldn't help it as she followed after him as quickly as she could.*

Emile snapped his head around once more when the scent abruptly vanished. His brow wrinkled in confusion as he urged Ever into a nearby bush to hide as he turned, trying to pick up the scent as best he could - but there was nothing but where it had been. A soft rumble pulled itself from between his teeth as his eyes narrowed, fingers clenching - he had to find the Leech and end it before anyt-
A strangled scream cut through the air and Emile turned around, eyes wide. The Vampire had skirted the entire park or something, because he became aware it had Ever within it's grasp now, one hand on her throat and its eyes flickering between the pair of Weres. It grinned viciously, and with a casual movement bit deep into her throat, puncturing the flesh easily with razor sharp fangs. Levi was too far away to react in time, as fast as he was, and Emile too.
There was no words that could describe the sheer and utter black rage that encompassed Emile in that split second. There was utter silence, as if all sound had been blocked out at once across the entire earth. And then Emile screamed, but it was not one of anguish; it came forth as a thunderous roar that seemed to shake the entire ground. The pure emotion bubbled and boiled across the pack channels, almost severing the connections - certainly Levi would have the worst migraine in history - but the little Were didn't stop screaming.
Then his body began to crack and change; he forced it, pushed it on far beyond the limits of what should have been survivable. Pure and utter agony tore through his body but he pushed it down because there was nothing in this world right now but Ever and that Vampire. His body was torn to pieces as it reshaped far faster than it should have, the process that should have taken two minutes being done in less than five seconds, and even shifted there was nothing but agony and rage, but even then he blanked it out because it had hurt Ever and she was DYING and he couldn't-
This wasn't the boy anymore, or even the Wolf, this was pure and unfiltered hatred. There wasn't any other thing existing in Emile right now - even his body was far larger than it should have been; thick muscles bulged under his fur and his eyes where a horrifying red color as blood vessels burst under the pressure. The Vampire, to his credit, realized what he'd just done a split second before Emile threw himself at him with all the force of a wrecking ball, the scream he had as a human dissolving into a roar.
His massive jaws clamped on the arm holding Ever and jerked him sideways; his grip loosened and her limp body fell to the soft earth just as the forearm separated from the shoulder in a spray of blood. The wolf threw the limb aside and bowled the screaming Vampire over; the other arm was brought up to defend his face or maybe strike out but that wasn't even bitten, it was literally shattered from the force of Emile's lunge - but in his anger he ripped right through it at the shoulder joint and tossed it aside.
Then his claws sunk into the stomach and ripped and tore until there was nothing but offal; jaws clamped on the throat and shook and shook until it came apart and Emile threw back his head and howled and roared into the night sky - lightning flashed above and it began to rain on the massive blood soaked Wolf. The scene wasn't a fight, it was a slaughter, even beyond a massacre. There was blood and gore everywhere, not a bit of Emile's brown fur escaped it.
The Wolf's chest heaved as he looked over to Levi but turned away and bounded over to Ever, his anger immediately turning to the white hot pangs of regret and sorrow - she wasn't dead but he had to save her NOW. He leaned down and licked her wounded throat, transferring every bit of the Pack Energy he had into it - it would heal her almost instantly, but she would also become a Were. The small bit of Emile's humanity that clung on during the ride hoped it would.
And then it was over. The Wolf staggered, panting heavily, trying to draw breath. At sight of the Vampire the anger flared and he leapt upon it's corpse once more, fangs closing and shaking. This wasn't Emile, this was a monster and a killing machine who wanted the only friend it had to survive.
It turned now to Levi and snarled dangerously, though the anger wasn't directional. Emile was not a dominant Wolf but right now it WASN'T Emile. It wanted Levi to carry her, to take her home, for he could not - and if he didn't, The Emile-thing would probably find a way to make him.

*She couldn't take her eyes off Emile. He was acting so weird and edgy, like he was expecting something to climb out of the woods and get her. She gripped his hand a bit tighter, now getting freaked out by his weirdness.*
*When he suddenly pushed her towards a large bush nearby she staggered a bit and frowned at him, now completely confused.* Hey, what the heck is.... *And then she felt the cold, hard hand around her neck. She instinctively shrieked but it was cut short by the vampire's fangs tearing into her throat. All she could manage was a gurgled cry as she slumped to the ground.*
*Everything was swaying confusion after that. There were noises nearby, like snarling, ripping, fighting but Everleigh couldn't turn herself to make out what it was. There was just too much pain and she was losing too much blood. She thought she managed another strangled cry but wasn't sure. She was in and out of consciousness now.*
*In all the confusion she was surprised when the sorrow hit her. She had been so close to a happier life, a life being friends with Emile but now that would never happen. She was dying and she knew it.*
*Everleigh could still hear ripping and snarling and shrieks of agony around her but she didn't know anymore if they were her imagination or actual sounds. There was so much pain that she just wanted to die faster. She just wanted it to end.*
*She wondered why there was no one there to help her. She was wondering where Emile and Levi had gone. Surely the monster that had attacked her didn't kill them too! Just the thought made her whimper. Everleigh managed to moan once before she lost consciousness. The last thing she was aware of was feeling something wet on her neck, almost like someone or something licking her wound then everything went black*

Emile smiled and apologised, so Levi decided to cut him a little slack. It hadn't that long since Vis had been killed, and they were all still feeling his loss. If wandering the streets was Emile's way of coping, then Levi would either have to find a way to keeping an eye on Emile without being noticed or convince Emile to stay within the forest. At least there wouldn't be vampires or paedophiles causing trouble in the forest. Shaking his head and smiling, Levi replied as he reached the swing set.
"Just call next time, okay?"
The girl on the swings next to Emile slowly took Levi in, her eyes slowly travelling up his body as she took in his size. He smiled back at her and laughed as she blushed and looked apologetic. Emile introduced her as Everleigh and explained that he'd invited her home. Levi could understand Emile's desire for company with someone who looked his age, but he'd gone a little to far in just inviting her back like that. Regardless of how mean her foster parents, Everleigh had cleared that up, were, Levi doubted that they would be okay with her going missing all night, or that they'd let her visit a stranger's house if asked. He tried to keep the sigh off his face, but Emile would probably pick up on Levi's body language.
"This is Uncle Levi, he's the Ninja I was telling you about."
Levi laughed out loud at that. He'd told Emile more than once that he wasn't a ninja, but Emile seemed to like the word, so it had become a bit of an in joke between the two of them. Levi was the ninja uncle that Emile had always wanted and Emile was the son that Levi had never had, so he taught Levi a lot of what he had now come to call his "ninja tricks". He held out a hand to Everleigh and greeted her properly.
"Pleased to meet you, Everleigh."
Emile suddenly tensed up and Levi looked over to him, and then to where he was looking. Something moved between a couple of trees, moving so fast that Levi instantly knew it to be a vampire. He looked at Emile, who was suggesting that they leave, and nodded.
"I'm going to stay here for a little bit. Say hi to Brent for me."
The coded message for Emile to get a hold of Brent as soon as possible delivered, Levi focused fully on the vampire, having trouble seeing it. It had been a bit over two weeks since the ball and, although Levi's wounds had fully healed, he wasn't much better than a human right now, thanks to the new moon. Unless the vampire didn't think that they could see it in the low light, and that was a possibility, it probably wasn't all that old.
Leaning up against the swings, arms folded, Levi watched the vampire. It saw him watching it and smiled, two fangs suddenly appearing. Nodding at the vampire, Levi began to walk towards it, trying to keep his heart rate from increasing as his adrenaline started its work. The vampire also began to walk towards Levi, getting faster and faster, until Levi could barely see it. He stopped, braced himself and was just about to raise his fists fully when the vampire hit him. The effect was instant and Levi fell to the ground unconscious.
Pain flooded Levi's mind. It was a familiar pain, one still fresh in his memory, but he couldn't remember what it was. Neurons slowly began to fire, waking him up and slowing pointing him towards the memory. He'd felt the same thing after Vis had died, when Arrow and Em had lost it. What had happened? Was he dreaming? No, there had been a vampire. It had been running, and then...
Levi opened his eyes and let out a brief scream of pain as Emile's rage bubbled through the pack connections. He forced himself to be quiet and sat up. Nausea immediately took him and Levi bent over and vomited. He stared down into the remains of his tea and realised that he couldn't see it very clearly. Looking up and around, suddenly in a panic, Levi felt dizzy and collapsed backwards, now aware that his eyes weren't focusing properly. Why was he like this? There had been vampire, and it had been running towards him and...
Emile!
He had to get to Emile. Christ, the vampire must have forced him to change. He hadn't been there to protect Em or the girl. He had failed them. It wasn't too late to get revenge on the vampire, though.
Forcing himself upright, Levi collapsed to the ground again and threw up. He tried again, this time more slowly, and then began to walk forwards, hands held out so that he wouldn't bump into anything. He could make out vague shapes, but judging distances was almost impossible. In fact, he bumped into three or four trees, stumbled and tripped over a pathway and almost got to the opposite side of the park before he realised that he was going the wrong way. Something in the back of his head said that he was badly injured and shouldn't be moving around so much, but that was drowned out by his need to protect Emile.
Eventually, after a few minutes of wobbly walking, Levi managed to stagger over to Emile and Everleigh. He could smell the two of them but, although he could make out the too large shape of Emile, it took Levi a little longer to see Everleigh's prone form, by which time Emile was growling at him. The wolf took over from Levi, even if it was a bit scrambled too, and growled back, drawing itself up in an attempt to not look weak. It didn't like being growled at like that, and it knew it was more dominant that Emile. It might be barely capable of standing, but it wasn't going to let go of its position in the pack.
