*Vaguely, she wondered if that was a wolf thing, getting the urge to get out and run. She really hoped that everyone would understand. She wondered if any of the others ever felt the same way. The last thing she wanted was to offend or hurt any of her pack members.*
*Pack members. That was the other thing. The idea of her first shift terrified her. Everleigh knew she wouldn't go through it alone. Emi would never do that to her. Her feet barely touched the ground, the motions she made were flawless and prefect. Heads turned as she smirked. Maggie liked the attention and it was that kind of attention that seemed to get her what she wanted. She had made her third kill of the night only an hour earlier. Some Brainless newborn that had upset the king in one way or the other. Maggie was expecting a big reward for her efforts. For now though she would bask in the attention of human on lookers. She wasn't bad to look at either, her vampire beauty already played a role in her spotlight but it was the edginess of how she dressed and spoke that seemed to separate her from the housewives that couldn't even control their dumb mini dogs. As far as she was concerned she was on top of the world.
There was always a down point though. As great as it was to stroll around the streets getting a few nibbles here and there and some fresh blood it was rather boring. She needed a new form of entertainment. A new toy. Messing with the drunks at bars was far too easy. It was like shooting fish in a barrel to her. Although her hunger for blood currently at the moment was satisfied her hunger for a fight certainly wasn't. No, she needed to find a new target. Someone she could shake things up for.
As soon as she was at the edge of the forest her smirk grew. There was a were close by. What better way to spend the rest of her night then with a were. Sure she had, had some close encounters with a few weres already but it didn't stop her from making her way towards the rather young were sitting on a log. There really was no threat in this, and beside she wouldn't even touch her. Taunting was so much more fun anyway. "I would say to watch out for the wolves but seems like you already are one." she stepped out of the shadows. Only a few feet separating her and the young were. "It's hard to imagine a thing like you turning into a mutt." she tilted her head slightly and studied her before giving a slight shrug. " ah well...live and learn right?"

Ever seemed to be taking to pack life well enough, but that didn't mean that she wasn't overwhelmed at times. Since the pack was pretty good at reading body language, they'd know when to back off and give her time alone, or with only one or two other pack members. Levi and Em were the usual choices, since Ever seemed to have taken to the two of them the fastest, and you could bet that Levi would be only seconds away if he wasn't with her. Perhaps it was his protective instincts going into overdrive because of the recent events, but he didn't want her to be threatened in any way, shape or form. He'd even started sleeping with a loaded pistol and rifle by his bed so that he could react to any danger with lethal force, something he hadn't done in ten years.
And so, when Ever had decided to go out for a run, Levi had loaded his CZ-75 with wood cored bullets and decided to follow her at a distance, far away enough enough to let her keep the illusion that she was alone but close enough to react to any dangers that presented themselves. He doubted that any vampires would venture this far into pack territory, but recent events had shaken him up and he wanted to be prepared for anything. It was just as well, too, because Ever headed towards the edge of the forest, where the pack boundary ended. Levi had no doubts that vampires would consider that fuzzy area on the boundary to be well within their rights to enter. He was being paranoid, of course, but that was Levi for you.
The wind had so far been still but, as Levi listened to her sit down, it picked up again and he smelled vampire. Immediately drawing his handgun, Levi moved towards Ever as quickly as stealth would allow him. He could have sprinted and been there inside of five seconds, but that was more than enough time for a vampire to kill Ever. He was counting on the vampire deciding to play with Ever's mind before it attacked, since that would give him time to get within shooting range. With the wind in his favour, blowing from the vampire to him, Levi would be able to get very close before the vampire detected him. He'd become very, very stealthy since he'd become a wolf.
Levi listened to the conversation between the vampire and and Ever, smiling at Ever's defiance even though he worried about it. Being defiant to a vampire who know that it could kill you, well, that just gave them an excuse to knock you around.
Finally getting into position, Levi came out from around a tree and pointed his pistol at the vampire, his stance steady. Looking down the sights at where the vampire's heart would be, Levi smiled at the creature.
"Ever, go back to the house. I'll finish up here."

She glanced down apologetically before noticing the hand gun and reacting to it by instinctively backing away a bit. No matter the circumstances, Ever wasn't a fan of weapons.
Her attention shifted back to the vampire and it took several seconds for Levi's command to register. Ever frowned at him and opened her mouth to argue but then closed it again with a snap. Now was not the time. She was torn, however, between doing what she was told and waiting in the wings just in case.
Common sense told her that she was no good to Levi. Until her first shift she was just a ten year old girl and really nothing more. Besides, Levi was armed and, no doubt, had wooden bullets in that gun if she knew Levi at all. He could more than take care of himself.
Still, there was something nagging at the back of her mind. Ever figured it had to be some other kind of instinct, but really she had no idea. She bit her lip, hesitating in indecision for a moment before looking between Levi and the vampire and slowly backing away. She didn't go far however. She somehow knew stay in the opposite direction of the wind to avoid her scent being blown to Levi and the vampire as she positioned herself in a spot where she could still keep an eye on Levi and the vampire without getting caught. The hard part would be getting back to the house before Levi but she would have to worry about that later. For now, there was no way she was leaving Levi alone whether she could realistically help him or not. Emile wasn't stupid - and even in his pain addled state, he knew when something didn't click. It wasn't that he realized Levi had lied to him, but that Ever had gone off on her own that sparked his protective side - if she had shifted yet, he wouldn't have been bothered. What bothered him though, was that right now she was defenseless to any other supernatural predators such as Vampires.
He was all but healed now; able to get up and move around with only small twinges of pain. He managed to slip out the back door and shift; the small brown wolf racing off into the thick bush, tracking his Mate's scent. The Wolf was just as in tune to this as Emile himself was, but as he got closer he picked up on Levi's scent - clearly, they had the same idea as Emile. But the Wolf wasn't offended that he had been lied to; he knew it to be for his own good. As it was though, right now he was more interested in what had drawn Levi to follow Ever.
As he got closer, an all too familiar scent touched his nostrils. That Vampire he and Vis had hunted. Oh how he wished he could crush the life out of her, but he was here for his Mate. He padded silently beside her - she'd know his scent, even if she wasn't turned. He gently nuzzled her, flickering his blue eyes to her before he panted quietly and settled down on his stomach to watch. He wasn't comfortable with Ever being so close to danger but it'd do.
He scooted himself slightly closer and managed to curl his tail somewhat around her back, but he was still tensed just enough to spring if need be.

Things were going well until the others showed up. Finding herself face to face with the barrel of a gun Maggie put her hands up slowly as her eyes widened, "Whoa...no need to bring guns to a non existing fight. You would think you mutts were attached at the hip. I haven't even touched her. We were only talking. No need to go all rambo on me." she said with an annoyed growl as she looked up at Levi, "You know its a free country...I can talk to whoever I want. Just because I have fangs doesn't mean a thing." Maggie felt that her fangs were now extended being around so many weres was making her slightly on edge. Locking eyes with the wolf now sitting next to the girl she gave a smile, doing her best to ignore the gun pointed at her. "It's good to see you again. I was wondering how you were doing." she smirked before looking back at levi.
Maggie paid the most attention to the direction the gun was now pointed at. A hand covered her heart slowly as she looked down and then back up at the gun, "You really need to put the gun down. I think you might be overreacting a bit." Maggie could no longer hide her Australian accent as a slight bit of fear surfaced in her. Unfortunately it was soon crushed by the ego of hers, although the accent seemed to stick. Instead of turning around she just stood there and waited.

Ever seemed to be a bit nervous about Levi's gun, but that didn't stop her from hesitating to leave. She looked as though she might argue, but then decided against it and left. Keeping an ear open as the vampire began to talk, Levi listened as Ever disobeyed him and stopped only a short way away. The vampire droned on, but Levi paid little attention to it's words, focusing on the body language. Given that she hadn't torn him limb from limb yet, Levi supposed that this was either a very rare good vampire or one who didn't think that it could take on an armed Were this close to the full moon. That was good, since Levi had had his fill of being wounded for the month, but it did raise the question of what to do with the vampire. She wasn't being hostile, but she was in pack territory, that did mean that he would be justified, at least in pack circles, for killing her. On the other hand, killing a vampire who wasn't a threat was probably going to piss the King off.
The vampire talked about fangs and then proceeded to show off her own. While most of Levi's body didn't react to the gesture, his finger spasmed, pulling the trigger back by a millimetre before his brain worked out the vampire wasn't attacking. Levi knew that the vampire would be able to detect the quick burst of adrenaline that his body had received, and he hoped that she didn't take that as a sign of weakness. He really didn't want to have to explain to the King why he'd killed a vampire.
"It's good to see you again. I was wondering how you were doing."
Since he had never met the vampire before and she seemed to be looking behind him, Levi assumed that Emile had decided to sneak out of the house, despite the restrictions placed on him. If she was talking about it being good to see Emile again, then that would mean that this was the vampire who had attempted to kill Buffy. Levi had had some suspicion that she was the one, but he hadn't been able to get a completely satisfactory description off Vis and Emile following their encounter with her. Now, however, with the vampire admitting that she was a killer, Levi dropped the somewhat pleasant smile he had been using for a blank, very serious look.
He could have talked about how the vampire had shown herself to be a murderer, despite Tru Blood and all the promises the vampires had made, or he could have talked about how, less than a week ago, Ever had been brutally attacked by a vampire. He could even have mentioned her Australian accent and slight burst of fear. That would have made it look like he could be tempted into conversation, though, so Levi used just six words to get his message across.
"You have three seconds to leave."
A lot of people would have cocked the hammer on their pistols, or started counting out loud. Levi considered doing that to be cheap theatrics when it came to dealing with vampires. He knew that they would be able to smell his surge in anger when she admitted to trying to kill Buffy, and he knew that she would be able to tell that his heart rate had only picked up slightly. He was a professional, and he had no problems with killing her, and the vampire should be able to tell that. If she was smart, she would leave. If not, then she would be dead in exactly three seconds, no more, no less.

The words had been completely none-threatening and yet something about what she said stirred that feeling in Ever...the instinct that she couldn't place or explain... Ever was downwind but the lingering scent of the vampire in her mind caused something to click, physically making Everleigh's body jerk with recognition.* It was almost as if the human part of Ever, that human little girl inside that had been so concerned with getting caught disobeying Levi's order, was pushed back and something else shoved itself forward. Everleigh herself was distantly aware that the snarl she heard in her ears had come from her. Her entire being was now focused on the vampire. Yes, the vampire's fangs had nothing to do with this particular situation but the mention of the word had brought forth a distant, lingering memory, the memory of her biological father's wake. That memory is what had been calling to Ever this entire time, the instinct that had her waiting in the wings instead of doing what she was told and going back to the house...the memory of the marks that had been on her father's neck. Sure, the funeral home had done an adequate job of masking the holes but makeup could only do so much. Everleigh might have only been four at the time but she now remembered how her eyes had been trained on the faint outline of those two small holes. Those two small holes that were clearly a bite mark...from fangs. Was this the vampire that had made her an orphan? There was no way for Ever to know. All that registered at this point was that this particular vampire was way too close to Levi for Everleigh's liking. That was what had been nagging at the girl..that was why, in spite of the fact that Ever hasn't had her first shift yet and Levi was armed, she couldn't make herself leave. Ever was afraid of losing anymore people she considered family. The presence of the vampire had triggered her dormant wolf's protective instincts. Everleigh could feel her whole body shaking with rage. She wasn't herself now. This was purely the animal instinct that she was feeling, that she was unfamiliar with and wasn't sure how to control. Everleigh could feel herself stepping away from the security of her hiding spot. Her human side knew that she was doing the wrong thing. The little girl inside was telling her, “Get back! You're going to get yourself killed and you're going to get me in trouble!” If Emile's scent hadn't hit her at that moment she would have gotten herself killed. Everleigh had no idea why both sides of herself reacted the way that they did but there was comfort in Emile's presence. Enough of her human half emerged for her to be able to think. If she tried anything then a fight would start. Everleigh would die and it would be her fault if anyone else was hurt. She forced herself to look at Emile and sighed in relief as she could feel her rage subsiding. She closed her eyes and just breathed for a moment as Emile's tail circled her. Everleigh had never been more grateful for his presence. As she came back to herself, Ever's eyes flickered to Levi and then to the ground in front of her. I'm sorry, she mumbled meekly before turning to Emile. They should go now. Everleigh figured she's done enough damage already. She slowly backed away with her hand on Emile's head, knowing he would no doubt follow her.[/style][style=margin-top: 3px; border-top: 1px dashed blue; text-align: center; font-size: 8px]made by gimmick/echo of OtE, TB, and MR[/style] |

Emile felt himself change shapes once more; it took a little more effort this time however. He smiled at her and lightly pecked her cheek before - making sure to keep hidden behind the bush - he kicked off his shoes and scooped her up in his arms despite his size, and set off running.
"Sorry, but this'll be faster, and Levi is going to get mad if we don't get back before him."
He giggled as he ran faster than any human could, not even straining from her weight as he sprinted down the trail, making sure to keep her head against her chest; such speeds could sometimes cause motion sickness and that wouldn't be good for either of them. It felt good to run even in human shape; his eyes narrowed and he was panting from the feeling as the Wolf pushed itself to the surface somewhat. He knew Levi could handle that situation and by them being there it'd only cause much more than it would solve.
He cast a glance down to Ever, huddled as she was against him, and felt a pang in his heart. Life was, for the moment, pretty much perfect. He had little time to reflect on this as he sailed across a ditch and landed perfectly on the other side, skidding to a stop for a moment he looked down at her.
"Are you alright, Ever?"
He asked, his voice tinged with that of an animal. It wasn't due to any hidden emotion, simply the sensation of running at such speeds. He was shaking slightly as the high faded but they where but yards from the Den now anyway, they could rest for a little while.
"I could tell your Wolf was out before. I know it seems scary at first but its just trying to protect you; even so I'll have to teach you how to control your Wolf a little more, naturally."
He smiled down at her as he ever so gently put her back on her feet, still panting, eyes still narrowed and searching. The Wolf wanted to run some more, and Emile did too, but sense knew Ever was more important. He embraced her then, a soft rumble in his chest before he smiled.
"I almost feel sorry for the Vampire. Almost."
He snorted playfully.

Post by HEATHCLIFFE RYAN HALLOWAY on Sept 10, 2011 16:38:52 GMT
Heathcliffe had been in his study, looking at the notes he had been presented with by a member of his staff. Notes on how well his guards were doing. All were doing exceptionally well; all except Maggie. It seemed that she had yet to come and get any orders and she had yet to perform any of the actions that one of his guards, or assassins in her case, were supposed to do. Needles to say that the king was highly disappointed with her; to lightly quote Queen Victoria: He was not impressed. Once again it was up to him to pay her a visit and tell her how things were to be if she did not want to die. Vampire or not, if she didn't learn that he was in control of most of her life soon then he would kill her in the most horrific way possible; probably by hanging her from a streetlight by silver chains until the sun comes up and burns her to death.
With the knowledge that he was going to have to lay down the law to Maggie, Heathcliffe stood up and grabbed his jacket. Maggie belonged to him, sure she was Luke Johnson's progeny, but she had become the king's assassin after she had disobeyed the rules and because of that he owned her and her life; that also meant he had a connection to her, not as strong as Luke's but still one that told him where she was and if she was in danger. His senses seemed to pick her up somewhere within the forest, with a familiar presence around her. This was strange to him and made him more curious about what situation she was in rather than be entirely angry with her. His feet took him to the downstairs lobby and he looked at one of his servants, "tell the queen that I will return shortly. There is an issue that I need to take care of." With that he walked out of the doors and, using his vampire speed, into town.
Before long he was at the forest, walking through it like any normal vampire would; looking out for those that may attack him but also looking for his prey, who in this case was Maggie. He sniffed the air and managed to catch the scent of her and two others that had been at the ball but there was also a new scent, one that seemed to still have a fairly human quality to it. Someone had been turned into a were quite recently. With curiousity taking control he followed the scent to where the people were, his eyes scanning the area when he got there. Maggie had a gun pointing at her heart, a wolf was holding the gun and the young wolf that had caused a scene at the ball was stood hidden with another young were. This didn't seem fair to him but it wasn't right to judge until he had all the facts.
"You have three seconds to leave." The wolf holding the gun spoke and the two young weres left the scene but everything was still on edge. With a frown on his face Heathcliffe stepped out from around a tree and into the small area where the action was taking place. His eyes fixed on Levi and he nodded respectfully, remembering him as the guy that had examined the body after the first murder at the ball. "Excuse my intrusion but there seems to be a problem here?" The king walked behind Maggie and put his hands on her shoulders, digging his fingers in as he gripped them as tight as possible, "it wouldn't be the first time that my little servant as got in trouble with your kind." As he said the word servant he leaned into Maggie and made sure to say it near her ear before saying the rest of the sentence away from her. His eyes focused on Levi again, "I would expect there is a good reason for this, care to explain?"
The king expected it to be a good reason but even if it wasn't, the fact that Maggie always seemed to get in trouble with the weres was a good reason, in his view, for them to want her dead. It seemed that him laying down the law and making her aware that he owned her life was going to be the least of her problems, if she kept annoying the wolves then one of them would end up killing her and it probably would be more painful than if he did it. To him, it seemed that Maggie was a burden and not only was he going to have to lay down the law but he was also going to have to make sure that she understood you don't go messing with a werewolf unless you want to end up as doggy food for the pack.
