Kris sat back in her chair, her nose was dug into a book she had been reading over the past few days. It was a nice escape from reality and she was surprised of how well she was able to get into the story. The hot chocolate that she sipped every now and then just seemed to add to the comfort of that day. It was starting to get a little colder out and as much as she hated feeling like she would freeze over, she loved this time of year the most. Everything about the winter was magical, it seemed that everyone was always in such a good mood and she supposed that was because the days were inching closer and closer to Christmas.
Kris wondered if she was going to go back home and spend it with her parents. She was on her own now and to be honest she thought her parents were a lot happier without her but part of her wanted to be with family. It just felt like the normal thing to do. There really wasn't anything normal about her considering her abilities but often she tried to be as normal as she could. There had always been this urge to want to fit in and to be human. She knew she was human, but her gifts made her feel like a freak and anything but that. It was as if she wasn't fully human to being with. Taking another sip of her hot chocolate she sighed softly and continued to read the book she was so engrossed in.

Alice's eyes slowly opened as she woke up, fixing on the ceiling as she let out a sigh. Her day off from work and she had woke up, unable to get back to sleep. Alice worked as a bartender alongside one of her friends, Jordan Baker, and although she loved her job it was a bit boring at times. The drunks were always fun though, with their banter and trying to chat her and Jordan up. Of course Jordan was in a relationship, so there was no chance they would get with her but it was still fun. It got her money and helped her pay for her hotel room. That was a good point about the job, it got her a place to stay and some of the life essentials that she needed. Life wasn't perfect but it would do... Being bored on a day off would not be good though and neither would staying her room be good. A soft sigh and she got out of bed, throwing her clothes on before exiting her room, taking the elevator downstairs and leaving the hotel.
A look left, then a look right, another sigh, and then she was off. Walking down the street at a steady pace, hoping something interesting will happen in her life sometime soon. Perhaps she had a long lost sister and would bump into her somewhere. Would be fun if that were to happen but Alice doubted she would ever meet any of her real family. It was always good to dream though. Her feet stopped at the doorway of a small cafe and her eyes glanced through the window before she found herself opening the door and walking inside. It seemed quite full and there was nowhere to sit except a seat opposite a female that seemed to be studying. Alice walked to the counter, ordered a coffee and then walked to the table and stood next to the female, speaking in a soft voice, "would you mind if I take a seat?"

Kris glanced up and gave a slight smile and a nod before looking back down in her book. She didn't mind that someone had asked to sit with her but she wasn't going to pay much attention to them considering she wasn't really in the mood to start up a conversation. As Kris's eyes ran across each word on the page she got a strange vision. She saw her parents but from different eyes. Her head jerked up and looked at the girl across from her confused by what she was picking up on. "Do I know you?" she said putting down the book. Her parents had never told her about her older sister. Kris had grown up all her life thinking she was an only child. For the longest time she had longed to have someone to look up to but really she could only count on herself.
She could see slight resemblance but she could have sworn it was her eyes messing with her."Maybe we met before in a class or bumped into eachother on the streeets." she saw memories of her house and she could feel a lump forming in her throat. "Childhood friends...." she drifted off. Her voice getting softer and lighter with each word.

The female at the table looked up and gave a smile and quick nod before focusing back on her book. Alice took a seat opposite the female and looked around the cafe more, ot was kind of the female to let her sit there but the least she could have done was talk more. Then again, somehow Alice knew that this female wasn't the talkative type or one to socialize much. Perhaps that was one of her powers showing themselves to her, her kind were supposed to be mind readers and also pick up things, right? There was no reason to connect to this female's mind though, was there? She was just reading a book and not thinking about anything other than that... Except there was something and through the small crack that Alice couldn't shut off she saw into the female's mind and could see the visions. "Do I know you?" Alice's eyes fixed on the female as she put down her book, her own face showing a confused expression by everything that was going on.
"Maybe we met before in a class or bumped into eachother on the streeets." Alice blinked a little and looked around again, "childhood friends...." Now she was regretting sitting here, it was all getting so confusing and Alice had no idea what was going on. "I've never seen you before, sorry. I lived with my adoptive parents and recently just came here and i'm now staying in a hotel and haven't really been out on the streets much. If you've been to the bar I work at then maybe but otherwise, I don't know you. Sorry." Yet she did feel something, a connection to this female and a slight hint of deja vu from the visions that the female had seen. Perhaps her powers were just out of whack or something... Or she was finally crazy."

"I've never seen you before, sorry. I lived with my adoptive parents and recently just came here and i'm now staying in a hotel and haven't really been out on the streets much. If you've been to the bar I work at then maybe but otherwise, I don't know you. Sorry." It was slightly embarrassing and she knew that she shouldn't have opened her mouth. She looked down hoping that the girl sitting across from her would forget what she had said completely. "I'm sorry...I must have been mistaken." she said in a low voice as she looked down. This was normally why she why she never opened her mouth in the first place.
Kris looked back down at her book as she tried to get herself to focus on the words. She could feel that her cheeks were getting red in embarrassment. She could have sworn she felt a connection to this girl but sometimes her powers were off. She remembered that she hadn't been getting a lot of sleep lately and that might have been why her abilities seemed to be going slightly hire wire.
