Heathcliffe stood on the balcony of the Halloway mansion, looking out at the gardens below. The cool breeze of the night blowing against his cold skin, his dark eyes fixed on the people that were walking through the gardens, couples that had been invited to the ball. His fingers drummed gently on the marble railing of the balcony as he awaited for the one person he wanted to see to arrive at his mansion. For a few months now he had been trying to get this attention of this one woman. Heathcliffe had been watching her, keeping a close eyeon her as she tried to be successful in life. The woman looked lonely, as though the world was against her, yet she had potential to be amazing. It was that potential that Heathcliffe admired the most. He wanted to use it to his advantage, but he also found the woman quite stunning, for a human. She made things seem different and on the few occassions that they had met, Heathcliffe found himself staring at her most of the time.
His eyes closed as he thought about when the vampire kings and queens of old, the ones that ruled the other states, had given him the chance to take New Jersey as his kingdom. He had bowed before the monarchy of old and then knelt before them as they proclaimed him as part of their 'family'. Heathcliffe had felt honored by it and vowed to be ruthless. They knew he was determined and they told him to put that into practice. To rule the vampires with an iron fist and make sure that no harm came to, what they called, the 'blood givers'. That is exactly what Heathcliffe was doing; he was leading the vampires to victory... But he couldn't help but desire a queen, someone that could stand by his side or be in his bed, whichever he felt like wanting at that particular moment in time. The woman that Heathcliffe had grown so fond of would be his queen, he was going to make sure of it. It was her that he wanted.
The scents of the humans at the ballcaught his attention. He had invited people of many species to the event, even though he couldn't stand most of them, it was only courteous after all. Vampires, humans, weres and witches were all here and most of them knew about the other species, but just like Heathcliffe they saw it as a chance to all get along for once. Of course the humans weren't aware, they were still in the dark about the supernatural. The music in the building changed pace a little and instead of being slow ballroom songs, the type of music you would dance to came on, the fast tempo music. A smile briefly flickered across Heathcliffe's face as he moved away from the marble railing and walked through the double doors that lead froom the balcony to the ballroom. It was time for the king to make his entrance.
One of his servants turned down the music a little as Heathcliffe stepped into the room, all eyes on him as the servant spoke, "may I present to you, Lord Heathcliffe. Last surviving member of the Halloway family." Heathcliffe bowed his head to his servant and then to the people in the room, "it is such an honor that all of you managed to make it here tonight. My mother and father, God bless their souls, used to invite people to the mansion at least once a month." Heathcliffe grabbed a glass of wine from one of his other servants and raised it in the air, "this is in respect for them. May you all enjoy your stay and have fun." He smiled before drinking the wine and whispering in his servant's ear, "get me a glass of blood and make it look like it's red wine. I'll be downstairs."
As the guests started dancing and having a good time again Heathcliffe made his way through the crowd and down the stairs. He walked across the ground floor before exiting the front door and stepping out into the front gardens. He sniffed the air casually, taking in the scents. That was when he found the one he wanted. The woman he had started to become accustom to was approaching the driveway to the mansion. The smile on Heathcliffe's face grew. Now the night could really begin for him. A tap on his shoulder signalled his servant had brought his glass of blood, Heathcliffe downed it with no time to waste before handing the empty glass back. He quickly ran back up the stairs and made his way back through the ballroom to the balcony he had been stood on before, his eyes closed as he tracked the scent of his beloved wife to be.

She was a nervous wreck, not to mention a little drunk. There just didn't seem to be enough pills in her small orange bottle to calm her down. She was never good and social events. Actually, she didn't think she was good at anything really. She stumbled slightly as she made her way up the stairs, heels and several gin and tonics apparently didn't mix well.
Corbin's eyes wandered up to his house...it was gorgeous, she probably looked like a train wreck compared to the other guests. Pushing back some of her hair she straightened herself out and made her way to the door. She was greeted by a few servants that offered her some wine. She gladly accepted two glasses before she shot them back making sure the give the glasses back. Her stomach was starting to hurt...apparently there wasn't enough Alcohol to cure the high amounts of anxiety she was feeling.
Your going to be fine, you just have to fine him Corbin. She tried to reason with herself. Her hands continued to straighten herself out as she pushed through the crowds. Bumping into a few of people and noticing their less than inviting expression. She shouldn't have came. Corbin had tried to explain to Heath that she wasn't the best when it came to things like this but there was no turning back now. She was there...drunk...but there. " Excuse me is Mr. Halloway here?" she asked one of the waiters trying to sound as sober and confident as possible.
Deep down she wanted to crawl into a hole and die. Her life had been one big disappointment after the other. In a way Corbin consistently feared that those around her could see the mess of a woman she was. Lost, depressed, anxious, lonely...the list of words to describe her when on and on. The waiters eyes wandered from her to the ballroom balcony. Heath was the only reason why she was there that night. She knew she liked him...in fact she was certain she was starting to love him. Corbin took another glass of wine hoping that this one would finally dull the pain and calm the nerves. Her eyes never once left Heath's as she took a few sips.

Heathcliffe tracked the woman's scent all the way up the driveway, into the mansion and up the stairs to the ballroom. Then he lost it amongst the crowd. His eyes opened as he turned around to face the doors that connected the balcony to the building, his hands on the marble railing as he leaned against it. His senses desperately tried to search through the mass of people inside. A voice stood out to him. Her voice. The sweet voice of the woman he would claim as his wife. "Excuse me is Mr. Halloway here?" Heathcliffe smiled as he heard the words come out of her mouth, to him her voice was like an angels, as were her looks. She was a great person and he saw that. The magnificence of her shone in his eyes. Even if she wouldn't believe it, she was amazing; a vampire king wasn't going to fall for someone that was normal, they only fell for those that deservedit the most. The ones that had a great potential.
He caught the servant that the woman had spoken to look at the balcony and Heathcliffe nodded his head to signal it was okay. The servant had merely pointed to the door before walking away to serve the guests. Heathcliffe stood there, watching as his love got a glass of wine and moved closer to him. "I am so glad that you came, my dear. I was worried that you wouldn't show." One of his hands took the free one of hers and raised it to his lips, at which point he gently kissed the back of her hand before he gracefully let go. "It is truly an honor for me to welcome you to the mansion that once belonged to my family." Heathcliffe proceeded to gently kiss both of her cheeks before turning slightly so that his side was against the marble railing instead of his back.

"Oh heath you don't have to do that." she said with a slight laugh as she felt her cheek turn a rosy red. He always was able to make her smile and blush. That was one of the many reason she found her heart being so willingly placed into his hands. He treated so well and at times Corbin didn't seem to understand why. If it hadn't been for the fact the room felt like it was now spinning to her she would have been able to completely enjoy that moment. She was starting to really regret all the drinks. It would not be a surprise if Heath could tell her current state. She wasn't exactly the smoothest when it came to trying ot hide things. "You're right about parties, I'm not really a fan...well i guess this is more of a ball. I suppose all social events just seem the same to me. I never got out much as a kid...always was content in my room you know." Yep, she was drunk alright...she had never rambled this badly before.
There was a slight chance that her drinks weren't the only things causing her to stumble over her words. She was always nervous when it came to being with Heath...she constantly felt awkward and speechless...it made her wonder why she liked hanging out with him in the first place. Maybe that was the thing though, despite all that Heath managed to make her feel wanted. "I'm sorry...I'm...well I'm..." she leaned in a little closer as she tried to steady her body. "I'm so drunk and so nervous...and i think i actually just said that out loud...." Corbin pressed her hand to her forehead as a very confused expression crossed her face. Her apology had just turned into a confession. Leave it to the drinks to make her a little more honest.

"You're right about parties, I'm not really a fan...well i guess this is more of a ball. I suppose all social events just seem the same to me. I never got out much as a kid...always was content in my room you know." Heathcliffe fixed his eyes onto her as she spoke, he had always known that Corbin didn't like social events of any kind but it was still a nice gesture for someone to actually pay attention and listen. Most people in the world didn't do that these days. No one listened to another persons problems. Heathcliffe smiled a little sympathetically as he looked at her. Corbin really was a magnificent lady. Even is she was drunk, Heathcliffe still thought she was an amazing woman.
Heathcliffe knew how Corbin was around him, she had been that way since the beginning, always so very nervous and speechless. Heathcliffe found it a little cute, even though he despised the human aspect of life. He was a strong believer of people being able to talk and stand firm. To act like a gentleman or lady, and make sure that they are respected by whatever means required. It was how he lived. Anyone that stood against him suffered death, but those that stood on his side got to keep their lives providing they remained loyal to him. "I'm sorry...I'm...well I'm..." Heathcliffe stared at her as she stumbled over her words once more. It wasn't annoying but it was quickly losing it's cuteness. Corbin needed to relax and let herself be free for one night. "I'm so drunk and so nervous...and i think i actually just said that out loud...." He watched her put her hand to her forehead before he took a step closer to her and gently put one of his cold fingers on her lips, "my dear, all you need to do is relax. Enjoy the night and it can become however you want it. Life shouldn't be worried about, your health and sanity is what counts." He moved his finger before gently placing his hands on her waist, his eyes staring into hers but not glamouring her. There was no need to glamour Corbin. "Let life be how you want it to be." He leaned in closer and pressed his lips against hers before he began kissing her with a little passion.

It all happened so fast. His soft words only seemed to comprehend with her only seconds before she felt his kiss. She began to melt, pulling herself closer to him, her hands wrapping around his neck as she kissed him with just as much passion. If it hadn't been for the fact she was a little drunk, she would have stopped herself. Her guard was down and she was now acting on her deepest desires. "I will try as best I can." she smirked as she stared deeply and lovely into his eyes. There was something about him. Something different. Whatever it was it seemed to make her gravitate towards him more. His beauty was almost uncompromisable. "I think I'm starting to fall for you....its scares me so much but I don't want it to stop." she was in love and there was no doubt about it.
"So Mr. Halloway...show me how I can live life a little. Help put my worries to rest." a smile crossed her face as she lifted his hand and placed it by her cheek wanting to feel his touch even more then ever. "How about we go out in the garden. It's such a nice night." She wanted to talk with him. Get to know him as much as possible. It was now clear that this was the start of something great. She felt so alive around him.

Heathcliffe continued to kiss Corbin as he felt her move closer to him and wrap her arms around his neck. He couldn't say he wasn't enjoying this because he was, even if the woman that he was craving so much was human. They kissed passionately for a few moments before pulling back and staring into each other's eyes, "I will try as best I can." Heathcliffe nodded in response as he continued to gaze at her beauty, if she wasn't human then he probably would be in love right now. "I think I'm starting to fall for you....its scares me so much but I don't want it to stop." A smile flickered across his face before he whispered, "it doesn't have to."
"So Mr. Halloway...show me how I can live life a little. Help put my worries to rest." Corbin had taken his hand and put it to her cheek, Heathcliffe smiled as he gently rubbed his thumb against her skin, wanting to touch her body just as much as she wanted him to touch her. "How about we go out in the garden. It's such a nice night." Once again he nodded, too caught up in her beauty and the fact that he wanted her that very second. His eyes wandered down her body briefly, checking her out a little, before he snapped back to reality and took hold of her hand. "Splendid idea! It seems like a long time since I have been in the gardens, not very often do I get the chance..." His mind lingered on the days when he had been a child. How his father had made a servant carve little figures out of wood and Heathcliffe had played with them out in the garden. A low sigh escaped his lips before once again he returned to reality and looked at Corbin, "I assure you that is is a wonderful place." He squeezed her hand gently before leading the way into the ballroom.

As Heath led her out to the garden she smiled and allowed herself to drift closely by his side. Her arms were now tightly wrapped around his as she rested her head against his chest her eyes staring off into the moonlight. "Don't you love the night?" she sighed looking up at him slightly. "I mean there is so much mystery but so much beauty." Her eyes wandered up to the full moon in the sky as she took in the sights and sounds around her. The dimly lit garden looked gorgeous as tiny fireflies danced around in the light sky. Corbin really could not have asked for more. She closed her eyes slightly as she tried to listen for his heartbeat. She had done it so many times before with men that had only failed her. As a child Corbin often fond herself calming her nerves by resting her head against her fathers chest, listening as he breathed in and out, and as her heart pumped blood to his body.
An confused expression crossed her face as she lifted her head. "I must be really drunk because it doesn't sound like your heart is beating, much less that you are breathing." she gave a short laugh as she brushed her fingers against his cheek. "That would be impossible though....Your certainly not dead because you standing here talking to me." She gave another smile before kissing his lips. "I'm glad your not dead...you make me feel so alive. I would hate to have to live without you. I might be falling hard, partly because of the drinks but something tells me your going to change my life forever. I think its about time I follow my heart and just take that crazy leap into love."

The moon was bright in the night sky and it glowed on the floor, making the rose bushes and all the other flowers that the Halloway garden had in it light up. It really was a beautiful sight. They stood out in the garden, Corbin's head on Heathcliffe's chest much like all the girls in the movies did when they were with their partners. There was a smile on his face as he gazed up at the full moon. The weres would be out tonight and no doubt that in the morning Heathcliffe was going to have to pay a visit to some vampires; those lucky to still have their undead lives and those that had been torn apart. "Don't you love the night?" Heathcliffe looked at her as she looked at him, their eyes meeting and gazing into each other's. "I mean there is so much mystery but so much beauty." That was true, the night was a beautiful thing but he couldn't help but miss the daylight a little, even if it had been years since he had seen it. "The night is magnificent and viewed as we wish for it to be seen. We each have our own taste in beauty. The night does well to compliment that, giving us all a little peace." He felt her head against his chest again and it made him smile.
Then her head lifted once more and Heathcliffe saw the confused expression on her face and frowned slightly, this was definitely not planned. "I must be really drunk because it doesn't sound like your heart is beating, much less that you are breathing." He felt her touch his cheek and instantly he put his hand on top of hers, holding it in place on his cheek so that he could feel her touch for longer. "That would be impossible though... You're certainly not dead because you standing here talking to me." Heathcliffe stared into her eyes, desperately hoping the subject would change. No one was allowed to know yet. His secret wasn't supposed to be revealed.
Corbin kissed his lips and without hesitation he kissed her back, but then she pulled away and spoke again. Subject clearly not changed. "I'm glad your not dead...you make me feel so alive. I would hate to have to live without you. I might be falling hard, partly because of the drinks but something tells me your going to change my life forever. I think its about time I follow my heart and just take that crazy leap into love." Heathcliffe once again found himself staring into her eyes lovingly, "I assure you that my standing here in this spot, with a beautiful woman, is very much real. Love can do crazy things to people but I can safely say that this is not one of those things. I am very much here and I think I may be falling for you as well." He paused and put his hands on her waist, pulling her close to him, "No, that is not true. I fell a long time ago. I am deeply in love with you and it would please me very much to have you as my lover."

As Corbin stared lovely into Heath's eye she could not help but see her future with him unfold. The relationship was just beginning but in his eyes she saw the rest of her life with him. Perhaps they would hit it off so well that they would eventually marry, have kids, and grow old together. Corbin was sure her dream was jumping the gun just a little...but she was sure that with a little alcohol in her system that wasn't very hard to do. The amount of happiness she felt around him seemed almost unbelievable. " I love you just as much Heath and I would be more then happy to be your lover. Although you can just refer to me as your girlfriend...unless you think of me of as something a little more." she teased with a kiss. She certainly was a little bit more opened when she was drunk.
"You are the best thing that has happened to me. I don't want to lose you." Corbin's life hadn't been the greatest. She didn't have to tell you that either. It was easy to see the misery she often worn on her face as she fought through each day. She hated her job and her anxiety was always through the roof. Right now at that moment though not a trace of misery could be seen in her face. She was happy.

"I love you just as much Heath and I would be more then happy to be your lover. Although you can just refer to me as your girlfriend... Unless you think of me of as something a little more." As Corbin kissed him, Heathcliffe kissed her back, not wanting this night to end. Not wanting to lose the woman he had fallen for. His hands were still on his waist, holding her against him as they stared into each other's eyes. "You are the best thing that has happened to me. I don't want to lose you." A smile once again flickered across Heathcliffe's mouth as he wanted, now more than ever, to make her is queen... but that couldn't happen yet. He would have to introduce her to his servants before the could even think about ruling together.
Heathcliffe's left hand dropped to his side as his right hand reached up to stroke her cheek. It was supposed to be impossible for a vampire to fall for a human, much less one that was a monarch. Yet he had fallen deeply in love with this strange woman, his strange little human woman. Right now though, he didn't care, he had the woman he wanted and sooner or later she would be human no more; she would be his vampire queen. Heathcliffe kissed her lips gently before taking hold of her hands, "True love is not real unless it is returned. Do you agree?" He stared into her eyes some more as he smiled, wanting her love so badly, "I shall introduce you to my staff and upon those introductions this mansion will become yours as much as it is mine."

"True love is not real unless it is returned. Do you agree?" Corbin smiled and nodded before she kissed his cheek. "I will always return that love Heath. I hope you won't forget that." "I shall introduce you to my staff and upon those introductions this mansion will become yours as much as it is mine." Corbin blushed as she squeezed his hand. "I don't need all that, but i will be thankful for it. Really all I need is you and nothing else. I really cannot ask for more. You have changed my life so much. You have no idea how long i have wanted to kiss you."
"So what do you want to do next hun? Show me around a little?" Corbin found herself kissing him once more. It was almost impossible to keep herself from kissing him. Everything about him made her heart skip a beat and all she wanted was to be close to him. He really was unbelievably handsome. She felt like the luckiest girl in the world. "Or perhaps you can show me around your room?" she said biting her bottom lip with a smirk hoping that he would understand what she was hinting at. She couldn't take her eyes off of him. She wanted to know all of him and hoped that shortly he would allow her to explore the man she wished to one day marry.

Heathcliffe smiled a little as Corbin blushed and squeezed his hand, she was so cute when she blushed, it made him more accepting of the world outside of his duty as king. If Corbin had no blood inside her to make her blush, if she wasn't human, then he would probably lose any respect or acceptance for those that were not vampires. If Corbin wasn't human, then he would hate the human race and want vampires to be in control. "I don't need all that, but I will be thankful for it. Really all I need is you and nothing else. I really cannot ask for more. You have changed my life so much. You have no idea how long i have wanted to kiss you." He stared int her eyes lovingly, allowing himself to feel human just for a moment.
"So what do you want to do next hun? Show me around a little?" Corbin kissed him and he found herself kissing her back, in his mind he wanted more than just kisses, but maybe it was too soon for that. "Or perhaps you can show me around your room?" At that moment his mind was screaming JACKPOT! as he found himself pulling her a little closer. Heathcliffe brushed her hair out of her face before he gently kissed her forehead, "the bedroom sounds wonderful. From this point on, you do not have to refer to me as a lord, just call me Heath. I am your man and I shall be forever." A smiled crossed his face as he took hold of her hand and began leading her back to the mansion.
