The man, unusually, less obviously uncomfortable with Levi's suggestion. While the woman wasn't entirely happy with the plan, the man seemed rather calm and collected about taking orders from Levi. It puzzled and disturbed Levi, given that he had assumed the man to be an Alpha, but his wolf took it as a partial victory. It remained to be seen whether the two would actually follow his orders, but Levi gave it a one third probability. This was, after all, his town and those two were relatively new.
A few minutes later, when he was outside, Levi heard the pub door open and immediately held his breath. Listening, he heard two sets of footsteps, one heavy and one light, and knew that they had done as he had asked. Still, he stayed where he was and listened in on the two, waiting for them to make a move one way or another. The woman spoke first, suggesting that Levi was hiding. His inner wolf growled at the thought that they were hiding, and his lips curled into a vicious snarl that Levi had a hard time bringing under control. He had not yet breathed or moved, so they didn't know exactly where he was.
"Twenty bucks says he's within hearing range waiting for one of us to make the first move."
Levi laughed, using the laugh to subtly exhale all the air his lungs, and stepped smoothly out of the shadows. He moved slowly and deliberately towards the two, eyes fixed on the male. The woman had already lost a dominance competition with him, so Levi just needed to stare the man down. This was his city, and he wasn't about to let anyone try and take over without them having a damn good reason.
"You'd lose the bet."
Still walking towards the two, Levi bared his teeth slightly and growled lowly. He hadn't meant to, but the wolf's instincts were kicking in. He'd already gotten the two other wolves out of the bar, and now his wolf needed to completely establish dominance over them. It was something that Levi hadn't felt in a couple of years, not since he had last faced off a similarly dominant wolf. This time, though, the wolf was coming through stronger and Levi had the feeling that controlling the wolf might not be the best course of action this time.
"Let's talk and walk. We don't want to draw any attention to ourselves, afterall."
Levi practically growled that last sentence, showing more teeth and stopped about two metres from the man. They stood facing each other, Levi looking the strange man in the eye, daring him to attack. Ideally, he'd get the two of them to turn and start walking ahead of him, something that would have proved his dominance over them. Less ideal, but still acceptable, would be a fight for dominance. Levi knew that he could easily explain it away as the two other werewolves having attacked him, and he had the credibility to get away with him. Hopefully it would be one of those two, though, because the worst case scenario, a continued standoff, was the most dangerous option. Maybe he should have given them a location to go to?
No. Levi couldn't second guess himself now, he had to keep on going and trust his instincts, both human and wolf, to get him through the danger.

A dull ache pervaded his useless eyes as they moved from the darkened structure. Really it didn't matter that much though, as there was no adjustment time for him as he could either smell something or not, be it blocked by distance or the air being sealed away from him. Moving his head downwind, he saw the red and blue trail that would have led him directly to the stray, and started to turn in the opposite direction so that they could stroll away from him, forcing him to go unenlightened of the situation or be forced to catch up to them.
Instead of being able to do that, when the female moved apart from him, she spoke, betting him that he was within hearing distance, and that he wanted them to make the first move. About the first, she was correct, the second not so much it seemed. Visceral did not know exactly where he had been, but that wouldn't have mattered since there was an intensely fresh trail leading directly to where he was, and a cloud drifting away from where he may have rested for a minute before going on. The wind did hinder him a little, but his extraordinary nose would have done just fine even with the breeze fighting against it.
His nature made it so that he would not be able to ignore the growl directed at a female, though she was normally dominant, she had sceeded dominance to him for the moment by lowering her gaze earlier in the bar. With two smooth steps he placed himself between her and the sound, knowing exactly where he was at all times now each moment that his voice rumbled. When he spoke, Viseral and Vison took action. Electric golden eyes seemed to sizzle as he directed his gaze at Levi.
"Fine. Come." His voice sizzled with true Command just barely more than his eyes did. He moved his eyes back to the female, laying the Command on her as much as the male, anticipating her impending violence. Then he moved, starting to walk at a medium pace, not quite a brisk walk, and not a stroll either. Of course he was not quite ther Alpha yet, but every ounce of his power had been dripping from his voice, which hadn't been much above a growl either. He walked, in silence, not hoping, but knowing that they would follow. He walked nearly straight as an arrow to the edge of the town, closest to where he had already cleared the start of a ten mile radius Den in the forest bordering the city. Then he turned, and inhaled, not daring to be anything but sure of himself.

Arrow could feel the aggression rolling off the other were in waves, she barely heard his reply to her because her wolf was growling so loudly in her head, she bared her own teeth in return, knowing her eyes had changed to a bright silver that reflected in the street lights. She was just about shoved out of her own head as her wolf tried to push through. The other wolf was ignoring her, that was his mistake. She;d rip his throat out before he'd even know it- Arrow fought her way back into control of her body, the other wolf's command to follow seemed to help her come back to herself. "God damnit, I should have just stayed home. Wolf's never acted up like this before. Damn dominants." She muttered mostly to herself. It had taken her so long just to gain the little control she had over her wolf, and these two seemed to just bring her right back to the starting board. With them around her wolf was more aggressive with trying to be in control, wanting to prove her own dominance to the two other wolves. She knew she was the reason they had caved so easily under the other wolves stare. Her wolf was much more dominate then she was. 'weak link' She heard the thought clear as day from her wolf and just signed, deciding to ignore her.
Her wolf snarled and growled at her in her head as she followed after the other were, it was so loud she couldn't even think and was starting to get a head ache, but she was stubborn. If it bothered her wolf to follow after the other then thats what she'd do, maybe she was just being spiteful but she didn't want to do what her wolf told her. No matter that it bothered not only her wolf, but her as well, to follow meekly after another. She glanced at Levi, her eyes still silvered but the color was slowly fading back to blue. She didn't know what to think of this one, she felt uneasy about his attempt to establish dominance but he had been kind to her when she had first walked into the bar, he had acted like he wanted her to be at ease.

Things weren't exactly going as planned, and the man seemed to have misinterpreted Levi's actions, because he stepped in front of the woman, rather than going for confrontation. Behind him, the woman bared her teeth and muttered something that Levi couldn't quite catch. It was almost as though the had been about to attack him and the man had stepped in to prevent any conflict. That couldn't be it, could it? Shouldn't she wait until he had challenged her superior? Or wasn't that the way things worked? Levi might have been a werewolf for nine years, but he hadn't quite worked out the proper manners and protocols yet.
"Fine. Come."
Levi had never felt such a presence or power. He'd met men who were cloaked in power and authority, men who the whole SAS had been in awe of, but never had he felt such a compulsion to obey someone as he did at that moment. Losing all semblance of control, Levi's eyes finally changed from brown to green and he took several involuntary steps forward. Even his wolf, who had been growling non-stop for the last few minutes faltered and took a couple of mental steps backward, although it kept its hackles raised and teeth bared.
The man's command seemed to have had as much effect on the woman as it had had on him. She too followed the man and, after a couple of steps, Levi moved of his own according, following the man because he wanted to, not because his feet were moving of their own accord. He couldn't explain why he was doing it, not after his earlier attempts at intimidating the man, but there was still this weird compulsion to do as the man had said. Maybe this was why Alphas were Alphas? Because they could control other weres like this?
The woman looked over at Levi and his wolf forced him to part his lips in a snarl at her and stared right at her, locking eye contact. The wolf had decided that, even if he had lost to the man, he wasn't going to lose to the woman. So, as they walked, he kept up his challenge to her, blindly following the man. His human half screamed out that it was wrong, that he shouldn't be intimidating this woman, but his wolf side wanted to have dominance over her in case he and the man ended up trading blows. It wouldn't do to have someone on the sidelines who thought that they were equally dominant to him but who was subservient to the man. That way led to death.
Now it seemed as though a fight was inevitable, it was just a matter of time before it happened.

"Now that I have your partial attention..." He looked at the girl, who, was once again on the brink of violence, " And now that we are away from humans..." He lifted his head and inhaled deeply. The breeze was coming fromt he forest. His forest. At leas the part he had claimed. It smelled very slightly of him, and only the occasional predators, those that were in between his marked territory and the edge of the woods. "Now we can talk. I am Visceral. I am also Vision. Alpha of the Napaski Wolves. We have come south, and are spreading throughout Canada and America, gathering those like us, either through birth or strays, like the two of you. The vampires, in coming out have opened the floodgate and eventually have forced our hands. If we are to ultimately survive, we need to stand together and have a structured civilization. There really is no other way."
The blind Alpha sighed, taking another deep breath of pure untainted air and continued. "I came here, to the new center of the vampire world to set up shop, and so far you are what I have found. It's a good start. Two powerful, dominant, and willful wolves. It is something to base the center of a Pack on."[/color] Visceral's eyes rolled backward as he raise dhis face again, toward the sun, though his attention was behind him. He could smell deer, none too far away from them, just inside what he had marked as his. He wanted to hunt, more than anything right now, but he had business to attend to.
" If you wish to run with me, I offer a semblance of inner peace... Or at least that you can get in speaking terms with your wolves." His eyes shifted to the female, who seemed the least in control of her wolf " You. You won't have to be scared of yourself. And you, You will have the freedom you well deserve." He said the last when his attention shifted to Levi. " If you decide to run and hunt and be Pack, you'll have a home." He finished, knowing that there was something missing from all wolves without Pack, and he knew that being without a people, without purpose and without a Den was what really made them the most volatile and violent." Questions first then... Hunt with me, kill with me, and know the real power of Pack.

Arrow's wolf locked eyes with the other were when he tried to challenge her. She growled lowly and didn't back down. Arrow was bewildered by him, he had seemed so kind back at the bar... but he was a were. Maybe he was having the same problem as she was with her own wolf. She tried to think of a solution that would end with both their wolves ripping each others throats out. she didn't know how long they stood like that, but it felt like ages. She had only one idea, and it was risky, she was counting on him being able to hold his wolf back from attacking or for the other wolf to protect her should he attack. Arrow took a deep breath, and turned her back on the wolf, keeping eye contact as long as possible with out turning her head. She addressed the other wolf who had lead them to the forest, her back stiff with tension from giving an aggressive wolf her back. She didn't want to deal with this right now!
Arrow listened, interested in what the man had to say, she wanted everything he offered but didn't think she and her wolf would ever be on the same page. She had a few concerns, and voiced them " that all sounds great, almost too good to be true." She admitted. "But I want to know. this hunt you speak of, do you hunt for humans?" She asked, hoping he would say no. She wanted everything he talked about but there was no way she'd willingly hurt an innocent person.

Vis shook his head and vehemence nearly dripped from the single word that tumbled from his lips. "Never." Hunts were never for human, not on four paws at least, and only rarely on two feet. "Pack never hunts humans when they run together. We rarely kill humans, and under no circumstances ever make an unwilling human one of us. to do so is death." His words that time held an edge of finality, with just the hint of power, how his Alpha had said it when he was a child, ingraining so deeply into his psyche that it and the Pack preservation instinct made it so he could never break covanent unless the entire pack was at risk anyway.
His face then moved to the male. " You have questions... I can smell it on you. I... Itch for the hunt... lay all your concerns on the man you would have be your Alpha, then we can have some real were fun." He said, his mouth tilting upward into a slight grin, his scent laced with all the anticipation of the hunt.

The woman was refusing to back down, and Levi's wolf was getting very, very touchy. They growled at each other, each human looking more and more like their wolf in manner. They growled at each other, barred their teeth and refused to look away. Each step was careful so as to not trip and lose the competition for dominance, and Levi was certain that the woman was just as ready for violence as he, or at least his wolf, was. Violence was only a matter of time, and Levi found his thoughts gradually drifting to how enjoyable it was to fight. His hands clenched and unclenched, itching to be used.
Just as violence was about to break out, the woman slowly turned her back on Levi, maintaining eye contact for as long as possible. Levi's wolf felt insulted, and Levi was too busy trying to keep it from attacking her for him to work out why, but he took it that the woman turning her back wasn't a sign of submission. From the urges he was getting to chase down the woman and rip her throat out with his poorly designed human teeth, it was probably also some kind of insult as well, and Levi felt himself getting a little pissed at her himself. He'd been in Jamerson longer than either of these two. What gave the male the right to try and establish a pack here, and what gave the woman a right to insult his wolf so badly? It was all he could do from running up and choking her out to teach her a lesson.
As they left the two and entered the forest, Levi started to become more wary. The forest was good ambush territory, and the breeze coming out of it smelled slightly of the Alpha. It wasn't entirely inconceivable that the man was trying to eliminate the competition and would kill both of them so that his pack could move in. The small group came to a halt inside the forest, and the man started to speak.
Levi listened to the man and had to admit that being in a pack sounded good. It wouldn't be bad to have a little more control over his wolf, which would free up a lot of his time and energy, and a little more freedom couldn't hurt, either. Still, Levi wasn't sure that a pack would be all good. Already these two wolves had brought out the worst in his wolf, which was still growling at the woman, and he doubted that he would be entirely comfortable with a pack if it was at all similar to a natural wolf pack. But, still...his wolf was definitely yearning to be part of the pack, even if it wasn't entirely happy with one of the potential pack members right now.
Gaining some slight control over his wolf, Levi carefully schooled his face into a thoughtful look, as though he was weighing up his options, and listened to the woman's question. He had a few questions of his own, and he didn't want to give the man any reason to color his answers one way or another. He was, however, pleased at the conviction with which the man stated that the pack would never hunt humans. The power in his voice, the command behind the statement caused Levi nod nod his head in agreement before he caught himself and stopped, his eye colour and the tilt of his head the only things that showed that he wasn't in complete control of his body.
" You have questions... I can smell it on you. I... Itch for the hunt... lay all your concerns on the man you would have be your Alpha, then we can have some real were fun."
Well, that was a little presumptuous, wasn't it? Suggesting that Levi had already made up his mind, and all that. Well, it was time to see if the man, Visceral apparently, was good enough to be Levi's Alpha.
"One," Levi held up a single finger, "Do we have a choice? Will you leave us be or will you hunt us down if we don't join? Two," A second finger went up, "What is the structure of the pack, and how does it compare to a wolf pack? Three," Again with the fingers, "What is your policy on vampires? Four, how much control will you have over us? Five, what is the status of women in the pack? And six," Levi was onto his other hand now, "Why should we believe anything you've just said?"
Hopefully Visceral wouldn't take offense and decide to fight. Hopefully, for his sake.

[vis nodded with each question that the man posed him. His grin increased by a fraction of a fraction of an inch with each. He had figured the man as a very dominant bruiser. One of great strength and fighting ability, but not so much upstairs. These questions proved him wrong. Visceral waited until he was finished before he spoke, only a very slight hint of impatience in his voice as he started. It was not impatience for the questions, it was just that the scent of deer was getting farther by the minute.
"I... haven't had many dealings with strays since I was turned myself, so I forget you know some base truths that all Pack know, and lack the training we have from the moment we shift at puberty. The base truth I speak of is that we do not lie. All Pack is taught just after thirteen to see, hear and smell a lie. It is in the nuances of facial expression, increased respiration and heartbeat, and mostly in the scent, in so many different ways. So, use your sences and you will tell that I do not lie." It was the longest block of words he had spoken to them so far, but he was not done, far from it in fact as he had five questions more to go.
He mimicked the man's gesture, though using his left hand, starting with the index finger, answering the first with a question. " Does your wolf give you a choice? If he does, then yes you can walk away. You will miss out on the only true family and home one of us can have if you do so, but that is up to you. So long as you do not break fundamental laws the Pack will not harm you." Now it was his middle finger that joined the index. " Te structure has always been from the most dominant to the least. The alpha and his mate on top, the second and his just beneath, and so on until there are no dominant wolves left."
" I.. Tolerate vampires. There is not much we can really do about them, when they are currently in the human spotlight. As soon as we have completed the gathering, we can be on more equal terms with them, until then, any violence to them must be done in the shadows." His voice was dripping with contempt for the abominations that strained his wolves to the near breaking point. Then, sighing, he unfolded his hand and waggled his thumb a little, directing his attention to the female, who the last answer would effect the most. He thought this might just be a question to prove or disprove his honesty, but he would answer this like all the other questions. "I am sorry to say that our policy on females has been the same for thousands of years, and it has seemed to work, so I don't think it should be changed. unmated females are sorted as males are, their position and dominance is directly linked. Mated females though take the rank of their mate, whether it be the lowest or highest, with no regard to their dominance. Since females are more rare than males... they are things to be protected." Not knowing if that last part would completely put off the female he turned to the center of the woods and crouched, his skin and bones already rippling.
Shifting in front of wolves that are not pack was the ultimate sign of trust. Trust that one would not take advantage of the momentary weakness to cause harm. He was sure they had never seen an Alpha shift though, and if they remembered all their shifts, the timeless agony of what would seem like decades, they would be surprised at how short and less painful it would be around other wolves. He had to get into his wolf form before them to ease them into the shift though since they were not pack, so he pushed it, allowing the pain to crash upon him, wave after wave, catching up the driftwood that were his bones and casting them onto the beach in their new order. It only took him a bare two minutes to complete his shift before he was able to stand upon four paws, huge compared to any natural wolf, being about one and a half times their natural maximum. Shooting them an impatient glare he waited for the both of them to shift as well.

Arrow nodded, satisfied with his answer to her question. Though once the other wolf started asking his questions she listened intently to the wolf's answers. She was glad for the questions levi asked. Arrow couldn't hide the smile that appeared on her lips when he talked of a females rank and position in the pack. Protected. That was the word she focused on, and that meant the most. She'd always wanted someone to protect her, since she was a child she'd had three male figures in her life that never thought of her and what they exposed her to. She had always had to fend for herself, what would it feel like to not have to worry about everything so much? To have people who would watch her back so she could focus on what was in front of her. That was her selling point. That was what she wanted. Security, protection and friends.
Arrow watched him shift with wide eyes, he'd done it so fast! Maybe it just came with age. Her wolf acknowledged his show of trust, but was a little wary of shifting in front of the other were. 'he'll protect us.' Arrow thought, a warmness spreading in her stomach as she did. The girl sighed and decided to get it over with, and started the change. She braced herself for the pain, and it did come, but it was noticeably lessened. Was she just imagining it? No, her change felt different this time, Instead of her wolf charging up to the fore front of her mind and shoving her back, she could feel the transition, though her wolf was still a bit forceful she was noticeably gentler, though not by much. then she was done, there she stood, In only a fraction of the time it normally took arrow to change. She shook out her sleek, silvery coat and stretched. Her pelt was a soft grey color that deepened slowly into black at her paws, tail and muzzle. Her dark gray eyes met first the wolf's then Levis, before she wagged her tail side to side a few times.

Visceral looked pleased with Levi's questions, almost as though he'd expected less of him, and answered them quickly and succinctly. He seemed impatient for the hunt and, perhaps, impatient for the two of them to join his pack, but Levi wasn't going to be hurried into making what seemed like such a momentous decision. Doing so would be a bad idea, just as it always was, and would lead to rack and ruin. Or, possibly, murder charges and a very public trial.
As Levi listened to Visceral, he found himself nodding at some of the answers, those he agreed with, or else those he already knew the answer to, such as werewolves being able to detect lies, and keeping his head motionless when there was an answer he didn't like, which was the last answer. He was probably hearing it wrong, but it seemed like female werewolves had about the same rights as a woman in Victorian England, and that went right against everything he'd ever learned. Levi firmly believed in gender equality, even if he sometimes slipped up and treated women chivalrously, so the role of women in the pack didn't sit well with him. He glanced over at the woman, to see what she thought of such backward and protectionist policies, but that last answered seemed to have completely drawn her into the idea of a pack. Either she yearned for Victorian England, or something was seriously messed up in her past.
Visceral began his change, and Levi watched in amazement as the transformation took place faster than he had ever seen before, and it didn't even look as painful as it usually was. So, there were obviously benefits in joining a pack, and Levi pretty much agreed with everything Visceral had said, barring his view on the role of women. The pack would offer Levi the sort of comradeship and support that he'd been missing since he'd left the army, and it sounded like it would help him control his wolf? So why was he so hesitant?
The wolf suddenly threw itself to the front of Levi's mind and forced him onto his hands and knees. It wanted to be free of his human body, it wanted to be part of a pack and, most of all, it wanted to teach the uppity bitch who had dismissed him a lesson. Levi could feel the change starting to happen of its own accord, bones cracking and skin splitting, his entire body changing. The wolf was so strong, and it wanted to be free, just like it was every full moon. Taken by surprise by the wolf's offensive, Levi couldn't stop the change, so he withdrew into the deepest recesses of his mind and let the wolf control him.
The shift was less painful than usual, and shorter as well, but the wolf was nonetheless weak when it finished the transformation. Levi used this weakness to strike back, running at the wolf's mind at full tilt and displacing it. His body shook for a few minutes as a furious struggle ensued, during which Levi's wolf form took a couple of steps towards the woman, but Levi managed to get his wolf under control in the nick of time. It lurked right on the edges of his mind, probing for a weakness, but Levi kept it in check for now.
Straightening fully up and stepping out of his destroyed clothing, Levi looked at Visceral's wolf form and was surprised to see that his wolf was larger. Standing at just over 5'2" at the shoulder and having a total length, including his tail, of 9'2", Levi's wolf was a monster. Bright green eyes stared out from under a mass of dark grey fur that was almost black, and an impressive tongue lolled out of a terrifyingly large mouth as Levi panted following the exertion of the battle with his wolf. And, despite Levi's impressive size and bulk, his wolf snapped at him to drop, and Levi crouched down, lowering his eyes and body so that he was no longer taller than the Alpha, although his wolf made sure that he was still taller than the woman.
Crouched, eyes down, Levi wondered what would happen next.

Stepping from the pool of shredded cotton that was under his paws, he lifted his chin to the sky seeking the moon. the moon that was the ball at the end of their race's chain, their goddess. Of course the sight of it, even the light that it reflected to the world below had been barred from him for his entire life, his face found the direction unerringly. While he was barred sight of that which allowed their change, he always felt the pull of it, knowing where in the sky it was at all times even while covered.
A low sounds erupted from the core of Visceral's being, from Vision. Raising in pitch sometimes skipping octaves as it rose. When the sound was at full power, tenuous tendrils of consciousness snaked from him and mo0ved toward the two that were by his side. These tendrils were not the grasping kind though, they instead required acceptance from both human side and wolf alike. These were the starts of Pack bonds, and if accepted would need to be reciprocated by his fellows in the same way as they were given.
An instinctual howl from the soul, from the inner wolf of the other two would need to be given, and would be accepted by Vision. Of course without the hunt, a living sacrifice of blood being spilled, and flesh consumed together, the bonds would be temporary. As for that though, there was plenty of game in the forest and they would sate their hunger in due time.

Arrow stood her ground when the other wolf changed and started towards her. She forced herself not to react, concentrating on holding her own wolf at bay and trusting he would be able to do the same. Maybe turning her back on him hadn't been such a good idea, but it had been the only way to stop a fight from ensuing. She noticed she was smaller then the two other wolves but her size would make her a bit faster and more agile.
Her wolf bared her teeth at Levi when he lowered himself so that he was not taller then the alpha but still taller then her. Her wolf yearned to settle this once and for all and just fight, but she also new they had to finish the pack bonds before anything else.
Arrow lifted her muzzle to the sky, her ears tipped back as she put all of herself into her howl. The sound was soothing and clear as a bell, distinctly feminine in its undertones as it carried through the forest. She could feel the rightness of what she was doing deep in her core. And for the first time her and her wolf were in agreement that this is how it should be, this was what she had been missing.

Visceral threw back his head and howled, rising in both power and pitch, until he reached full volume. Levi could feel something happening to him. It was subtle at first, just poking around the edges of his consciousness, but then it started to knock, asking to be let in. Levi didn't know how he knew it, perhaps it was because of his wolf's instincts, but he knew that what he was feeling was the offer of a pack bond. The time had come to make a choice one way or another.
Levi chose to accept the bond.
His wolf took over and howled, rising up through the octaves, gaining strength and power. For the first time in his life, Levi was glad to have the wolf take over, and he smiled mentally as he felt himself connect with Visceral. His Alpha. The wolf stopped just short of Visceral's volume, but that didn't matter any more. Levi was at peace with being below the Alpha, just as he had never really had any problems with obeying the orders of an officer when he had been in the army. He belonged to the pack now.
Beside him, Levi could hear the woman howl, and realised that his wolf wasn't quite as angry with her as before. It still wanted dominance, but the idea of revenge was fading fast. Then the reality of it all sank in and Levi knew that he had found a family, a place where he could belong without having to constantly control himself.
Despite the gravity of the situation, he wagged his tail.

Lowering his muzzel, he accepted the wolves of the pair of misfits. Then he tugged on the frail bonds directing them towards the woods. Vision was a blur, whirling and racing into the trees. He inhaled the layout of the surrounding woods withe great panting breaths, light on his feet, dashing between trees and over logs, until he finally caught a scent. He slowed then and raised his muzzle to the left, then the right, waiting for his comrades to catch up. He would let them decide which way to go, to see if they could use their noses as they should be able to.
Of course he knew which way the most fresh scent was coming from, and the wind would be against them, he just wondered if they could tell with the prey out of site and the wind as an opponent. Being their first real hunt, he had chosen the first large prey in the area. It was a group of one buck and five doe. He knew they could take them all down if they worked together. He just hoped none of them would be gored for their first time out. Glancing over his shoulder, he looked at one and then the other, then moved his head back, tail swishing in opposing time with his nose as if he were asking them which way they should go.
